Grammar Island prompt

This is probably the first "assigned" creative writing CP has done in homeschool. It's from the end of the first part of MCT Grammar Island, where it says to write your own story with a part of speech.

He wrote on unlined paper, and I'm transcribing it line by line:

don't meet a verb.

there was a little

noun walking up the

street. then verb

came out of the

cafe. "hi verb!" said noun.

"i'm going! that's a

verb!" said verb

"bye!" said verb

"hey! Can i come?"

asked noun. verb said "yes"

then noun and verb walked up

the street. together.

The only feedback I gave was "the pronoun "I" always needs to be capitalized" I mean, he knows that. He also knows sentences begin with capitals. I guess he is just going through an ee cummings phase?

But, everything is spelled correctly, which is a huge improvement. He used punctuation mostly correctly, except for the places where he clearly changed his mind about something.

And he seems to have completed the assignment correctly. He even sounds a bit like MCT himself.  :D

If you have any comments I'm glad to hear them. But this is mostly for posterity and my own accountability.

Oh, and when I asked why the title was "don't meet a verb" he said it was because if you meet a verb they are addictive, and then you'll become one. Right.  :001_rolleyes:
