Seasider
I downloaded this and have scanned 3 receipts. One has completely processed ($.08 back, woohoo!), two are still being compared. Do any of you use this? What do you think about it? Is there anything similar yet better out there? I'm not entirely satisfied with (1) the length if time it takes to process a receipt and (2) that the whole thing is an after-I've-purchased process. JessReplanted
I should probably use this. I'm a little bit suspicious that "THEY" will secretly be using this to track the purchases people make (and somehow violate my privacy). Is that too conspiracy theory?
JessReplanted
Oh, and I should also add that you have you be your own "saving's catcher" by checking your receipt. The frozen pizza I buy is marked at $4.50 but always rings up at $5.97. And don't get me started on things that are double scanned. (And this is my life now... getting all fired up over walmart receipts. :svengo: )

Is that too conspiracy theory? I've become a privacy nut myself, I refuse to use the frequent shopper cards at places like Walgreens, they should have to pay for their own market analysis, I don't need to let them analyze my spending habits for free, and th discounts aren't worth it to me. candicane
I only just started using it, and dislike how long it takes to compare (72 hours!) for such a small sum. Right now I only got $1.24 which came from my mom's cookies being on a slightly better sale at Safeway. I would think Checkout51 would be something sorta similar, in that you get money back for buying certain items on their lists they give you, but I don't much care for the system as my list is mostly things I would never buy. There's another program like it, but I forget the name since I haven't used it much aside from a look over once.
creekland
I have an e-mail telling me I have $3.11 back from my last trip there, but I haven't looked too closely at it to even know how to redeem things or what the savings were from. I never mind if stores/businesses know what I buy. I figure if they know certain demographics are buying things, they'll keep making them for me (or similar things I might like). Win - win, esp if they give me additional savings.
Tree Frog
Have any of you with Savings Catcher made returns from items you received credit for? I wonder if they deduct what Walmart paid through the SC program when the return is made.
Murphy101
My dh has been using it for a couple weeks. We've accumulated .38 so far. LOL but hey, that's .38! :)
MomtoCandJ
It doesn't usually bother me if they know my spending habits. Maybe they will send a sale alert my way  I've been using ShopKick recently (just started 2 shopping trips ago) and earning points for scanning products in the store. But the Wal-Mart where I go doesn't register in their system so I didn't get any walk-in points or scans. I emailed them and they said they rely on their partners to update that stuff and hope to have it added to the list asap. Well, I'm not going to drive to the other Wal-Mart just to get the points so right now all my WM trips are useless with the app. I have successfully used it at Kroger, though. This isn't very time efficient on its own, but when we shop as a family I do the scanning while dh fills up the cart. Kinda make it into a game with ds, looking for the items on the shelves. If my WM participated I would have probably earned my first gift card by now. I have this as well, been using for about a month. My Walmart walk in don't register but my scans do. I'm 25? points away from a $10.00 card. I like it, dd1 likes looking for the scans with me :). I'm saving all of mine to get the largest Lowe's gift card I can get in February to redo our floors. tshirtyogapantmama
I am been using it for about 3 weeks and I am right over $8.00. It does take time but not that much since I record all of our spending anyway on speedsheets. I am waiting until I hit $10 and then I'll redeem it. I find I already save a lot by shopping there ...this is just a little bonus.
MomtoCandJ
Cool. I wish they offered gift cards at all the places you can earn points! I think that would make more sense. I think one of the only places I shop that offers gift cards is Target and we don't go there that often (it's further away than Wal-Mart for us). I will glady use it at some point, but I would benefit more from a gift card to Wal-Mart. I would like a Walmart card too. Lowes is about 1.5 hours away but if I can save 50 to 100 dollars off our new flooring just for scanning stuff, I'm all for it :) after that though I'm not sure what kind of card to earn for but probably will lean towards Old Navy or Toys R Us for the girls, or I might go for more Lowe's for other home improvement type stuff (like paint and new cabinets, a dishwasher....) KRG
Yes, and I have a little over $5 in my account with 6 receipts.
Seasider
Okay, I will keep plugging away. I've only done a couple of receipts and those were for a small number of purchases. It will probably take a while to accumulate an amount worth transferring to a gift card.
AnotherLinda
I live in an area that was a test market for the program so I've had it a bit longer than some people. My total is at $13.75. My plan is to just keep letting it accumulate until it's time to go Christmas shopping. I figure I can use it to get some gifts for the nieces and nephews. Ripley
My girlfriend has done it for about a month. She is up to $38. She and her roommate do the bulk of their shopping at Walmart. I don't shop there enough to make it worth my while, so I gave her mine. I know she asked other friends for their receipts, too, if they weren't using them. I need one specific school item that is made just for Walmart. I hit up about 9 Walmarts in my somewhat-vicinity searching (in vain) for this one item. And wouldn't you know it, but I can't get out of there without buying a ton of junk LOL. Even though not a single one of those stores had the one item I was specifically there for! What IS it about that place and Target?! I had four receipts for her. Now I wonder how much of that $38 could have been mine .... :coolgleamA: but then I think of how much those "savings" will cost me in the long run ... best just let her have the receipts and I go back to not going into Walmart at all . Earlier this week I saw a Craigslist's ad asking for receipts.
Annie G
Are you having that money put on as egift card? If so, you should be able to do it like I do. I get an email when my refund has been added to my card, and the email has a barcode on it, PLUS instructions for the cashier. The instructions in my email say Cashier instructions: 1. Total the order 2. select 'Shopping card' 3. scan the barcode on this page I think if you have your refund transferred to an ecard it will work this way. Mine just adds it to the same card every time, so there's not multiple cards going, just one. Did this help or just confuse you more?
Annie G
Yeah, I think you just let the cashier scan the barcode from your email- I do that when I get emails from Kohl's with coupons so other companies use this method. I wish Walmart would make it so the refund was somewhere in the app so you could redeem it from the app. If there is a feature like that, I haven't seen it. The app does have a place that shows reward dollars but once you tell them to put it in an ecard it shows that it's been redeemed on the reward dollars tab. Which is weird because it looks like you've spent it when you haven't. The app isn't very well designed and I suspect there are going to be some major changes really soon. People are collecting and scanning receipts from purchases they didn't make and getting refunds from that. Pretty sure Walmart isn't happy about that! Annie G
If you haven't cashed in the first one, it just tosses the second on onto that one. I figured that out because the card number and pin number is the same on the second email as it was on the first. I'm glad about that- I do NOT want to juggle multiple cards. So just open the most recent email from them and scan that one. Still, it would be easier to just make redeeming it part of the app, wouldn't it? And maybe train the cashiers on the app and how it works.
Annie G
No, you can manually enter the receipt number and then print the egift cards from your email. I think you can access it from the Walmart website. I had to manually enter a receipt when the app was having glitches.
momto10blessings
I have $7 after about a month (9 receipts)
KRG
I cashed in over $20 this weekend. The cashier scanned the bar code from my phone but you can print it and they can scan that at the register.
MomtoCandJ
I have mine transferred to my American Express blue bird card, you get double the amount back :)
Supertechmom
My hubby has been using it the last 3 visits and has nearly 10.00 already. We live in an area with several competitors so I think that makes a difference.
MomtoCandJ
The blue bird card isn't used right now for anything but that so to me it doesn't really matter, we don't have it linked to our bank account or anything like that. I'm not likening the Ibotta thing either, it seems that I only redeem for milk and other non brand specified things. I will probably get rid of it once I reach $10 and just get an iTunes card (I already have $4.75) Shopkicks is awesome :) so far I have over $15 stashed up for Christmas, you don't need to buy anything (the best part in my opinion). UnsinkableKristen
I've used it for about three visits and have almost $30. When it "checks for competitors", it checks 70+ stores, though. That is WAY more effort than I choose to do on my own. Totally worth it for me!
