pocjets
http://www.veritaspress.com/selfpaced/index.php Sorry if this has already been posted but I thought someone might be interested. Veritas Press now has 2 self-paced Bible courses available for pre-sale ($89) and their self-paced History courses are also on sale. ($99). My girls have really enjoyed the history courses this year and I can't wait to try the Bible ones too! Hope this helps someone out!

teeniebeenie6
Has anyone done more then one of these courses at the same time? How quickly can you get done one of these courses? Thanks,
pocjets
I have 2 students doing separate courses but never 1 student doing 2 courses. The history self-paced take my girls anywhere from 25-40 mins to do the lessons except on test days-those take about 10 mins. There are 160 lessons so I guess you could double up and do them faster but we do not. My girls are in 3rd and 4th grade. An older student might could do them a little faster, but probably not much. The bible sample was MUCH shorter - maybe only 15-20 mins and there are only 128 lessons. It's scheduled for 4 days a week. Hope that helps! Thanks, Are you referring to the Bible courses? I'm not sure. We do the history and I believe it is 160 lessons per year.
dauphin
Bummer, they have to be used immediately. I was considering it for next year.

I'm more interested in the history courses. We actually bought one in April (Exp-1815) which we haven't started yet. We are going to start next week. I am curious if we could get done by next April? Knowing I needed to get it done by this April before it expired, we actually started this summer. The children are now up to lesson 20 something. We are on track to finish by April doing 5 lessons per week. You can take the 160 and divide it up by how many times a week you do it to see if you will finish by April. BlessedMom
Do you by chance know how long the sale lasts? ETA- Nevermind, I found the information about the sale dates! Thanks again for posting about this sale!

Tranquility7
Ok, I am totally confused. How did you ever find out about this sale? When I go to your link, the sale prices are there (and I bought one). However, when I just go to veritaspress.com and navigate using their menus to self-paced history or Bible, the courses come up at regular price. How did you get the sale link? Are you on a special mailing list? If you are, I want to be on it, too!! Do tell :-) ETA - In fact, I can't even get to anything about self-paced Bible through the menus on VeritasPress - only self-paced history or omnibus. What am I missing? :confused1:
wehave8
Wehave8 have you decided how you're going to memorize your timeline yet? No :( That's why I'm back tonight. Do you have that perfect, magical plan for me?! MOH and pick out our own titles to memorize MOH and VP cards according to old CC plan MOH and CC cards MOH and VP cards and VP songs VP for history and timeline CC for history and timeline Then I looked at BP again I read some MOH last night and I'm not sure I can get the flow of it. Anyone else feel it might be to jumpy back and forth? I'm praying, praying, praying. Any more insight would be quite welcomed!!! :) Pam

The only I'm even thinking of using the old CC plan with VP cards is because I already have the materials, bought quite inexpensively a few years ago. I'm hesitant to spend anymore money on memory work especially when what I have will work. I do want the shiny new CC cards though! May I ask what era in history you are studying this year? I'd like to go on to US history, but Ds wants to redo the Middle Ages, we didn't do a great job with it last year and he's gotten really into knights and castles. hsmom10
I received an e-mail with the info- we are previous VP self paced users. I am so excited, though! I was hoping they would have a sale this fall!
wehave8
mama25angels, We are starting with Ancients again. :( Planed on doing it last year, but just ended up reading through our Bible. Now I want a 'history plan'. Maybe we should move on. I just got When Dragons Hearts Were Good, The Illustrated Origins Answer Book, and more, and I can't find what curriculum 'extra reading list' they go with. :( I feel like quitting! I have the CC cards (1st 2 packs) and want the VP ones! ;) Pam

I got an email yesterday with the September newsletter and the info was at the very bottom of it. This morning, I got an email just about the new classes. I don't think I'm on a special list; I think it's just the regular one.
wehave8
Wehave8 have you decided how you're going to memorize your timeline yet? Not meaning to hijack this thread, but to answer the question... I have decided (for today at least :) ) to do: 1. MOH1 with their timeline, maps, notebooking, and folder books (we can get a big picture by seeing what is in between the CC timeline cards) 2. Memorize CC Timeline (not the song..we don't like it) 3. Add VP reading recommendations 4. VP Bible Timeline Pam ETA: Thank you, OPer. It was because of intently looking into this sale that I was able to make a final decision on our history for this year! I'm glad for you!! For today, I decided to use the old CC timeline and use the VP cards as our history. Pages of History/ SOTW will be our history spine and we'll use the VP lit and what's on the shelves.
