jenn-
So your favorite sport is on and something is going really right or really wrong, are you hooting and hollering at the TV or not? How about your spouse or children? I'm a total yeller when it is football season! I was raised by yelling family members so I think this is normal. DH thinks I'm weird. kitten18
College Football - lots of loud cheering and yelling here. DH and I grew up in the same state, it's a way of life there.
Happy
Stand on the couch and cheer--but BASEBALL, not football. :)
Pink and Green Mom
DH and oldest are actually at live game, I'm left here yelling at the TV. I did cheer so loudly at one point that the dog got up and hid in the closet.
HRAAB
I once broke the couch when yelling and jumping up and down. Dh didn't get upset because I was cheering for the correct team. Dh is pretty quiet except for a few choice swear words when his team makes a mistake. The more serious something is, the quieter he gets. Football is very, very serious. happi duck
We get loud! It's part of the fun and if people aren't in the room they know to come watch the replay!
MicheleinMN
I prefer to watch football alone! And yes, dd and I both yell at the tv. Ds does sometimes, but not as much as my youngest dd and I do.
Mom23Boys
Lots of yelling here. From me. ;) My DH is not a huge sports fan. I am, especially LSU (football and baseball) and the Saints. I am a huge college football fan.
Word Nerd
I yell and cheer a lot during college football and basketball season. #gokstate
jenn-
I knew he had to be the weird one. My mom was always wilder then my dad, but he always yelled when they screwed something up.
Night Elf
Nope, we don't talk/yell at the tv. We do comment to one another about things though. I would think yelling was more typical though.
ScoutTN
We cheer and yell. College football and basketball and Peyton Manning. ;) Dh watches golf too, but that gets more restrained sorts of audience participation. When we had been married about two years, Dh observed that we were becoming more like each other. I yell at the TV watching sports now and he does it watching anything political. Heatherwith4
Well, we live in Alabama, so it's yelling and screaming and jumping up and down for us!
MelAR05
I've frightened my children many a time. :D
plansrme
You know the saying, "There's no such thing as a stupid question"? That is wrong; this is a stupid question. OF COURSE one yells at the TV. How else will your guy know he is supposed to run if you don't tell him???
Critterfixer
Depends. DH won't yell, but he will whoop and holler if someone makes a great golf shot, or a good play, or a goal, or a horse that he would have bet on wins. He's an equal opportunity sports fan. Put this with the fact that he watches ALL sports with the sound off, and it sure sounds funny if I'm in another room. I only get all worked up about hockey. Yeah, I'm in the south and always have been. I know I'm weird.
poppy
During intense plays in hockey and football (sports my husbands still plays at 35) my husband not only does not yell , he insists on silence as he analyzes the plays. He's the one who is a weirdo.
texasmama
I do not holler at the TV, but I don't care that much about the outcome of sports. Dh and my older son holler so loud I think they might break my eardrums. They scare the cat, and she runs out of the room. I don't care for it. Luanne
My daughter and I both yell at and talk to the people on the television during both football and baseball. My mother just sits and chuckles. My father used to yell at the television all the time when ANY sport was on.
fraidycat
Yelling, talking to "the team" (Come on guys, you can do it) clapping, jumping up and down, waving hands and arms. All perfectly normal behavior. My team just won a few minutes ago, but they tried not to. It was intense!
BarbecueMom
You know the saying, "There's no such thing as a stupid question"? That is wrong; this is a stupid question. OF COURSE one yells at the TV. How else will your guy know he is supposed to run if you don't tell him??? And it would never occur to the officials/refs/umps to get an eye exam unless I suggest one. Loudly, just in case they can't hear either.
zoobie
Yellers here too. One dog has only been with us for part of one college football season. He was very much freaked out yesterday.
Ripley
We watch a lot of sports - pretty much anything except NASCAR and football. Football bores me, and on the few occasions I get outvoted (bowl games) I do yell. But I yell at the universe how stupid football is, not at the players themselves. What kind of sport/game stops and starts itself every third second? YAWN. But no, I don't yell. I talk under my breath a lot, usually non stop LOL. When my pitcher winds up, I'm muttering "STRIKE STRIKE STRIKE STRIKE ..." When his batter swings, I'm muttering "MISS MISS MISS MISS MISS ..." When the batter makes contact, it's "FOUL FOUL FOUL" or "CATCH IT CATCH IT CATCH IT." I think my family would prefer I scream. It'd probably be less annoying. And I can't sit still, either. I pace a lot. I jump, I fall to my knees, I'm very ... physical. I kick my imaginary soccer ball, tag out base runners, do lay ups in the doorway, and bounce waiting for a serve. But quietly! No screaming, no yelling - only the occasional grunt escapes my lips. But the same is true when I'm watching my kids, nieces and nephews play sports. I get really invested . My ex-husband only really watches football. He finds it more enjoyable now that I'm not yelling how stupid it is in the background. He isn't a yeller until about mid-way, which is when the alcohol starts kicking in LOL.
idnib
Football here, both NFL and college. I cheer a bit, but mostly shout (in a good-natured way) when things go wrong. How else can I direct them and help them improve? :confused1:
jenn-
People may think of ladies in the south as southern belles, but put a college football game on and we are as rowdy as the guys. Maybe as a collective we reach the ears of the coaches and players through the rowdiness going on in everyone's house.
