dauphin
I met the Director at a local conference and I am SO excited about what they are offering. DD won't be doing it this year but I am hoping we can next year. FOUR FULL YEARS of courses available, taught by a Ph.D. engineer who is also a high school teacher. http://www.theonlineengineeringacademy.com/.aspx Registration ends September 5th. I have additional info that they sent me that I can forward to you, if you check out their website and want more details (the website is still sorta bare-bones). Or you can contact this guy: George Blanks, Ed.D. Director of K-12 Engineering Outreach Samuel Ginn College of Engineering Auburn University (AL) blankgw@auburn.edu (in the cover letter he sent, he says he's a former homeschooling parent and he says he also continues to work with homeschoolers through the BEST robotics program) p.s., I'm not sure where to post this, I know some K-8 people might be interested, logic stage, accelerated learners, AND high school. So...um, I hope it's not taboo to XP all 4???
MarkT
What is the cost?
anne1456
I was just looking at this and am seriously considering it for my son this year. It is $550, so not cheap. I thought the information on the Auburn site was more detailed, here is the link to that: http://eng.auburn.edu/outreach/k-12/ea.html

dauphin
Thanks for the link anne1456! I am still learning my way around their website/materials. Here's a link to the promotional flier. I'm also going to see if I can post a pic.... haven't ever done that before! http://eng.auburn.edu/files/ea/homeschools.pdf Okay, I can't upload, it says it's too big :(
dauphin
Bump with a reminder that registration is supposed to close on the 5th!
Grantmom
dauphin, I hope you see this. Thank you so much for posting this. Do you have more information that the person sent to you, other than that flyer? We are really interested in this, and I am trying to get some more info, but I haven't heard back from them. I emailed Mr. Blanks and he emailed me back the first time, but then I emailed and called to get some more details but haven't heard back from him yet. I really want to sign up but I need to know if we can commit or not. Do you have more details about the class, like when it runs, breaks, etc? He said that the classes are not self paced and that they are 48 minute classes from M-F. I am wondering things like does it meet at a certain time? He said M-F classes, so does that mean you have to log in and do something daily? What if you have to miss a day, can you make it up? I just feel like I don't know quite how the class works. He said it's not self-paced, but there isn't a time. Do you know more? Thanks!
