prairiewindmomma
We are (still) prepping to move. It's time to box up any homeschool books that won't be used for the next 18 months. We are having the windows replaced in our schoolroom tomorrow. Houses in my neighborhood can take a while to move, so I am planning on keeping out 2015-2016 materials too since our new school year starts in June. Any advice? I have been so anxious all week. Guest
Box them by cateogory or by age-appropriateness, and label the tar out them so you can lay hands on the books you want when you want them. Label on the top and on at LEAST one side. I can't tell you how much time this has saved me. My dh did not do this when he packed up his office and every time he wants a specific book, it's like an extended treasure hunt. But grouchier. TinaBlue
This might be overkill for you, but here is what I did: I had a librarything.com account with a lot of my books entered in already. When we were packing for our move, I had the laptop next to me as I packed, and I tagged each book with the box number. Now I have a garage full of boxes of books, but because they're all catalogued, I can look in librarything to find out which box has the book I want. Good luck with the move! I've never heard of it. Prairiewindmomma: I hope your house moves so much faster than you think it will. It can be hard just waiting for showings, phone calls, living your life and being a home school family. But I guess you know that...
Um_2_4
I box up books by topic, since I tend to do all the same topic at different levels for things like science/history. Then I box topics together of levels I am not using right now, like math, spelling, etc. So mine are: SOTW1 (w/ all accompany reading/picture books) SOTW2 etc SOTW4 etc US History & etc Life Science Chem/Physics Geology/astronomy/earth science Spelling (only levels I am using are out) Math (ditto) Readers (ditto)
