BabyFishDesigns
I'm going to be doing Latina Christiana 1 with my 3rd grader this year and my advanced 1st grader will be sitting in on it too. They both have some latin exposure (Song school latin, English from the Roots up, and Classical Conversations). I'm wondering if the DVDs would be helpful to them (making less work for me) or if they are geared more towards the older end of the range. Thanks for any helps and tips you may have! Saddlemomma
I would get the DVDs. They were such a help to DD and me.
Tess in the Burbs
We didn't like the gal on the DVDs. We just learned it all together no issues
Calm37
Yes, the DVDs will be less work for you. If you don't use them, you will have to prepare to teach the lesson. I was never very good at finding time to prepare for everything, so it was nice to have this one thing where I could just sit down and watch the DVDs with the kids. RootAnn
I used them the first time through, but my kids didn't like them. I'm teaching it again this year & won't be using them. If you have a good grasp of Latin / Latin grammar, you don't need them. Everything you need to cover is in the TM. If you want one lesson per week to be them watching her teach the lessons on the DVD instead of you teaching them, go ahead & get them. If you feel you can handle the teaching, skip them. I encourage them for moms who have no prior Latin exposure (like me the first time through). They aren't "fun" like SSL. She has a southern accent & sometimes make mistakes on the DVD. FYI. Oh, that's super good to know! A local mom offered to sell me hers because she said it was easier and faster for her and her children when she just taught the lessons. I think I'll be saving my $35 and spending it elsewhere though. While I'm not fluent in latin by any means I have a decent grasp of things so we should be ok (knock on wood! lol) Thanks! RootAnn
If you run into any trouble, ask on here. There are LOTS of us who've gone through LC1.
Reefgazer
I found the DVD's extremely helpful.
KrissiK
I prefer to use the DVDs because know nothing about Latin, but yes, Leigh is a little annoying. She kind of goes on and on and on.
