Jenny in Florida
My son took the two CLEP exams he needed to finish up his high school requirements today. He passed both with flying colors. I have, therefore, added the appropriate information to his transcript, printed a final copy, ordered his diploma and updated my WTM signature. I am now officially out of my homeschooling gig. Jenny in Florida
Thanks, everyone. Yes, I'm proud of him. That took a while to sink in, since I had to first get over the irritation that he had stalled so long taking the CLEPs. But pride overcame irritation after a few hours. I'm definitely feeling -- not sad, exactly, but -- wistful that it's all actually over. He's my second and last graduate, and I wish our last couple of years had been smoother and more home-based. The lovely, personalized, classical education I envisioned wasn't his cup of tea, though. So, I have to let go and be happy that we found something that did work well for him. My son is pretty blase about the whole thing. He's looking forward to getting to college in a few weeks and starting the next phase of his life, but there's been a lot of shoulder shrugging and "It's not that big a deal" glancing. However, I've been homeschooling longer than I've done anything else, except be a mom. This is a big transition for me. I kind of wish I could start all over again and do it "right" this time.
