Mom-ninja.
So I bought a Cat Genie based on rave reviews I've heard. Yeah, not impressed at all. It basically just breaks up the poop into small little pieces that then fall between the grate so that poop remains in the litter. Then when is washes with the rinse it turns into poop soup. Also, it flings litter all over the back where the hole is and that litter end up falling into the hopper. It's a significant amount and a waste. Extremely disappointed. AlmiraGulch
That's a bummer, except I'm glad that you figured it out without me having to re-buy it. I actually bought one once, but needed to cut the pipe and put on an adapter to get it to hook up to my plumbing, and I didn't want to do that so I sent it back. I was thinking about giving it a go again, but now I won't. I hate cat litter, but I love my cats, so I guess I have to deal with the litter. Guest inoubliable
Poop soup? /gagI'll make sure to pass this on to friends who are owned by cats.
Mom-ninja.
I'm talking to customer service. Hoping they can tell me how to fix it.
Catwoman
I didn't like it, either. I have heard that some brands of litter work better with it than others, but I didn't have the patience to start experimenting. Can you return it?
Cindy in FL.
Sounds gross. Cat litter is bad enough when it's not soupy. I'm feeling a little queasy thinking about this!
mom2samlibby
We've had ours since 2007 and love it. Every now and then it doesn't get all the pooh picked up, but for the most part it works well. I love not scooping. I just wish I wouldn't find the pellets of litter everywhere.

Mom-ninja.
Well, I will say that customer service is great. She suggested why there was poop left over. Also, she suggested buying a new arm. Seems the one we have is faulty. Sigh. We already bought a new hopper. Man, I really should have just bought new instead of used from Craigslist. TechWife
That sounds, well, disgusting.

Yeah, "poop soup" is gross, but if it it attached to your plumbing and you don't really have to deal with it, I wouldn't mind it so much. In theory. trulycrabby
Okay, that sounds really, really gross. :ack2: Attached to the plumbing makes it seem somewhat less disgusting. :ack2:
Catwoman
You have to use the Cat Genie litter with it. I know that's what they say, but I remember reading (maybe in an online review somewhere?) that another brand worked better. Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong litter box. I thought the one we had was called the Cat Genie, but now that I'm reading more about it here, I'll bet ours was a different one because it doesn't sound the same. Sorry!
