Slache
Did you like it? Does this cover everything HOP covers? I think this would be a good in between for us right now, but I don't want to spend $50 on garbage.
Ad astra
I got the classroom ver. app when it was free but haven't used it much... because my son was almost done with the HOP Kindergarten level at that time. The app is nice for learning CVC word building and covers the same contents with additional ebooks and some games, but doesn't go far beyond the K level. And it takes up a lot of storage if you download all units. If you already own the K set, this app is not worth $50 IMO.
MeaganS
I also got the classroom version free. I have no experience with other HOP products, so I can't compare, but it is good. It really helped my middle daughter figure out blending without too much drudgery. We used it as a precursor for starting OPGTR, and it worked well for that. She couldn't even blend words like "at" when she started and when she was halfway through with the HOP app, she was able to start doing a lesson a day in OPGTR without much trouble. She enjoys the app too, so we still do it occasionally. It is almost all CVC words, so wouldn't take you very far, but in my experience so far, this can be the most challenging part about teaching reading. The only thing I didn't like about it was that my dd could often guess what words were from the stories. The illustrations were very obvious. ETA: I wouldn't spend $50 for it. Maybe $10, but not $50. Honestly, the lessons repeat themselves quite a bit and there are only like 4 games or so that they just do over and over. I would probably just buy maybe the first 3 or 4 units. If I bought it at all.
Slache
Thanks guys. I won't be getting it. He can already do CVC. We plan to do SWR next but I just don't think he's there and I thought this would be cool. Thanks for saving me the $50 I really didn't have in the first place.
