Costco organic meat prices? (warning Costco Content)

I think chicken thighs are maybe $2.39/lb locally? It is the cheapest option for us.

They have organic chicken breasts, thighs and whole little birds (sorry I don't know the terms I am vegetarian!)  They have organic ground beef.

Occasionally they have other things- great deal on Niman Ranch hams a bit back.

They also have kosher turkeys if that floats your boat.

I am veg, husband is not, and will only buy certified humane or organic for my family.  Costco membership is used ALL the time by us.

Yes, I've found that it really various by store.  The one I usually go to  only has organic hamburger and whole chickens.  The one 20 minutes further has a much wider selection of organic meats and organic produce.  The closer one also has more Hispanic items, and the further one has more Asian items.

We get our hamburger locally (better deal, 50 pounds at a time), but get some items at Costco.  Some of the local stores have a good selection but they're very pricey unless there is a sale.

Ours has this, too. It's organic. I believe it's 18.99 here.

That's for the organic. Conventional is about 3.00/lb, but it's in the large tray packages.

They have organic bacon, but I don't know how much that is. I like the Aldi's stuff.

Organic 85/15

That seems like a good price.  We pay 6.50 for ours from a local farmer.  It is a little leaner than 85/15 though.

I wonder if they would let me browse and check items without a membership?

hmmm...

Sorry, SparklyUnicorn for starting another Costco post.  Hopefully the warning kept you away.  lol

We buy the three pack of 1-1/3 pound "organic" hamburger…which was $15, but now is closer to $17.00.

You can buy non-organic six one-pound frozen packages for about the same.  One good thing about Costco, even normal meat, is that they check their ground beef for e-coli.

We used to get two large organic chickens for about $18/19, too.  Haven't bought them in awhile, though.

The organic buffalo is about the same price as the organic ground beef, but I think it's only 2 pounds, maybe 3 pounds. (2 packages vs. 3)

They do have gluten-free frozen pizza, which I haven't tried.

They also sell ginormous loafs of Udi's for like $6 and change. I think it's the whole grain kind (greenish label).

Some stores carry Namaste GF flour blend.

Some stores carry almond flour.

Ours also has Quinoa pasta.

Food stuff we buy, omitting the corn and dairy products and chickpeas (they are legumes, right?):

Udi's bread

Chicken (not organic, but they have it)

Ground beef (organic)

Potatoes (10lb bags, bakers and Yukon golds)

Frozen blueberries, strawberries, and cherries

Carrot juice (organic, for smoothies - $7-8 for three of the large Bolthouse Farms bottles)

Orange juice

Eggs

Frozen sausage patties

French fries (when I only had a broiler, I can make homemade now!)

Ham lunch meat

Coffee

Apple juice

Natural peanut butter

Organic strawberry jelly

Canola oil and EVOO

Cooking spray

Organic diced tomatoes and tomato paste

Penne pasta (ours has brown rice/amaranth/quinoa)

Basmati rice

Namaste GF flour (not my favorite but cheaper than anything else)

Sugar

Raisins

Spices and seasonings

Those delicious frozen chocolate zucchini muffins

I like Aldi's almond milk better, but they have silk brand there, plus the shelf stable boxes of rice and soy milk. The frozen veggies and most of the nuts and dried fruit have wheat cross-contamination warnings on the labels.

We get a lot of non-food stuff there like TP, heavy-duty aluminum foil, quart/sandwich bags (Aldi is cheaper on the gallon bags), vitamins, DS's Claritin, shampoo, and Aleve.

We like Aldi's almond milk too.  It is a staple in our house.

Thanks for the list!

Yes, they will let you browse!

In the Atlanta area, the organic, grass fed ground beef is $17.99/4 lbs. They are in 1 1/3 lb packages (so a pack of 3). The organic chicken breasts are $5.99/lb.

I think I will go and look around, price, etc.  BUT I will wait until August 1st since I am already $200 over for groceries in July.

Does your package say grass fed? Because mine do not...wish they did. The back also says product of USA, Canada, Australia, and Uruguay...which I have mixed feelings about, mostly because it makes it sound like the hamburger is mixed. LOL

Is that grass fed? Honestly, I would rather pay a local farmer 6.50 a pound for grass fed (and all the health benefits of that) than 4.50 for organic, not necessarily grass fed.

Hmmm, it used to... I haven't read the package in a while; I just grab the pack. Bad consumer! I remembered the price because I asked DH when it went up again. I don't think we have any in the fridge to check, but I will look when/if the baby ever finishes nursing and goes to sleep! :)

Trader Joe's has the best price on grass-fed ground beef in our area.  It's frozen, though.

Publix (local super market) is a few dollars more.  I think I paid close to $8.00 today for one pound.

OK…actually, it's the buying club…then TJ's….but you have to buy 10 pounds from the buying club. (Annie's).
