Anyone else here doing Yamie Chess / After-school chess clubs

I'm part of a PTA group at my local charter school, just wondered if any other Charter school parents have had any experiences of organizing specifically chess tournaments after school? We're currently testing the Yamie Chess math program (my son's school has a focus on STEM subjects) with a group of 5th graders who like my son have difficulty with their math homework. The background is that my school has gone through several other chess / cognitive based programs with mixed results, so we're actively looking for alternatives.
