"Build Your Bundle" Bundles- see anything worthwhile?

Recommended Posts

I am loving the K-3 Bundle. It has Botany in 8 Lessons, Reading Lessons Through Literature Vol. 1, Math Mammoth items, Raising Rock Stars Kindergarten and a Grapevine bible study, plus much more. I was also really tempted by the Charlotte Mason Bundle, but I own quite a few bits from it already, so the deal wasn't quite worth it for me.

I am tempted to do the $25 build your own bundle. There are 3 of Ellen McHenry's courses which would normally be $14.95 each and I could get Wordsmith Apprentice and maybe Sheldons New Primary Language Lessons. Will think on it for a while. My kids aren't old enough for any of them yet.

I'm in the same boat. I have put Ellen McHenry on my "maybe for later" list. But now I don't know, should I get them and store them in my gdrive for 2 - 3 years? Can anyone tell me if Ellen McHenry participates in this sale often?

And I don't know what other two things to add...Not everything seems to be included in the build your own option, and not much was of interest to me in the first place.

Oh - and I think I have Botany in my gdrive already, but it's the free download version from last year(???). Is the new and improved version worth getting?

I had not seen that.  I might do the build your own for the three Ellen McHenry ones - I have thought we'd likely do all of those and that's obviously a good price.  But, what in the world would I get for the other two things?  I guess we might use the MM Percents book, though probably not...

They certainly aren't secular bundles, are they?

Nope.  They sure aren't.  That's why I don't think I can find anything else to make the Ellen McHenry stuff worth it.  I mean, other than Ellen McHenry and Math Mammoth, nearly everything is decidedly not secular.

I'm pretty certain the breakfast stations are religion free! ;)

I don't think all the items are available for building your own bundle. I can't find the bird notebooking pages or barefoot ragamuffin's 50 states.

I noticed that too. I was hoping to get some of the Write Through History books in the Bundle deal but they weren't an option. Then I saw this at the top: "Our "Build Your Own" bundles offer you the opportunity to select a certain number of products with a retail price of $19.99 or less." Write Though History books are worth more then that and so is the 50 States curriculum. Too bad!

They've changed the sale to buy two pre-made bundles get one free. I am really annoyed because I only bought one in the middle of the night because I didn't think the buy two get one half off was that great of a deal but I probably would have bought two to get one free.  I feel a bit taken advantage of. :(

I'm looking at the StartWrite discount  - at $20 it seems like a good price compared to the usual $50. Does anyone know of a better deal?

teeniebeenie6 - sorry to hear about your experience. Perhaps worth writing to them about, since you bought it so close to the deal change?

I'd email them! I emailed them about the bird pages (because I completely missed the less than $19.99 qualifier) and the responded quickly and politely.

One of the ladies who put the bundles together said she emailed everyone who had already purchased so make sure to check your email...if you don't have one, definitely email them. :-)

Erin, it is so great to see you! I miss your blog! Will I get to see you on here now and again? I think what you are doing for your kids is so awesome!

I got an email that seemed aimed at people who had already bought two bundles. I didn't because I didn't think the two bundles get 50% off was as good a deal, but you know I'm looking at the make your own bundle and realized most of the things I want from the other bundles are on there. Maybe I'll just go that route rather then make it complicated for the Bundle makers. I am sure they are getting a ton of emails and requests. I am very happy with my K-3 bundle purchase. I am very interested in buying more Ellen McHenry items, the Freewriting book and the Creation science books.

I got Wordsmith Apprentice and Sheldon's New Primary Language Lessons. I probably won't use either of them, but to get all 3 of Ellen McHenry's curriculum for $25 I figured it didn't matter.

Aww...thanks! I will probably pop in here now and again, but right now I am really working on staying off screens and spending time with family (and we just got a new puppy!!) Plus, spending too much time on here is hard on my homeschool budget. :-)

Aww, a new puppy, how fun!! How does your older dog like the puppy?

Oh, if there's a fourth Ellen McHenry product, that would tip me into getting it, I think.

I did think it was odd that the Botony one was with the K-3 section.  It's more of an upper elementary item.  But they had a few things that seemed misplaced.

Yes, I was interested when I saw the other Child's Geography books, since I like the looks of the one we have (the first one), but they retail for more than $19.99, so they weren't included in the Build Your Own.

I saw these listed in the bundle and I was excited since you had shown them to me, but then there appeared to be no way to bundle those three books. Bummer. There isn't anything else I really want that I don't already have.

I will keep you posted on how we like it this year and will pass it along when we are done!

Well, in the end I decided to write and see if I bought the Middle School bundle if it would be possible to get the 4-6th Grade bundle free (since I bought the K-3 before they changed the sale). I realized I was going to spend nearly that much anyways for things in those bundles and by buying them this way I'll get to try a bunch of new things as well. Now I am just nervously waiting for a response on whether they will be willing to do that.

ETA: They were awesome and got back to me super fast with a coupon code for the amount off for my free bundle. :) I was super impressed with their customer service!

Regarding the Ellen McHenry items, maybe it's that there are two items in Botany?  There's a teacher's guide and a student text.  That could be the mysterious fourth item.  :)

I have Mapping the World with Art on my wishlist for as my kids get older so I will probably do the build your own option to get this and her others since it's such a great deal.

I'll probably get the Writing Guides for Children as number four and not sure what else.

You are probably right! Glad you solved the mystery. :)

Has anyone bought the Mom bundle? It is tempting me, but I'm on the fence at the same time. Today is the last day to decide.

After I ordered a build your own bundle for $25 they sent a coupon code for $10 which means you could get the mom bundle free.

These bundles are strictly e-books, are they not? I don't think its such a great deal then.

For the three Ellen McHenry items you would spend $45 for the e-books.  To get them for $25 is a great deal!

I usually own a big chunk of the Omnibus making it not worth it for me. It will be interesting to see what it contains this year.

The email said that most of the items were new this year, so I am interested to see as well.  I purchased it the first year but not since.
