Mandylubug
My boys had to restart math when we pulled them out of PS three years ago. They have done really well with R&S math. We are at the beginning of 5th grade math and starting their official "6th grade" year. I figured we will keep math going during the summers since we typically school all year anyway typically. I want them ready to start Algebra 1 in 9th. Any advice? Can I just plan on covering 5th-8th R&S in the next 3 years? That's what I want to accomplish and hope that will be enough for them to be ready for Algebra in 9th. IF we pay for them to do Algebra in Co-op, it will utilize Saxon Algebra 1. kiana
Doing 4 years in 3 with working through the summers seems like it will work fine.
Clear Creek
R&S 7 is mostly just R&S 6 with harder problems. If your kids can complete R&S 5 and 6 over the next two years, they will be ready to go into prealgebra. And I would use a prealgebra program that third year, not R&S 7 or 8. SilverMoon
Working through summers should have you exactly where you need to be. Since you won't have summer brain dump problems you could also let them use the chapter reviews to test out of the first 2-3 chapters of each book. Pink and Green Mom
My son went directly from R&S 6 at home to pre-algebra at school. There were a few things I had to work with him on that summer in between homeschooling and going to school (order of operations, and negative numbers were the two I remember).
