How to get from R&S5 to ready for Algebra in 3 years...advice?

Recommended Posts

My boys had to restart math when we pulled them out of PS three years ago. They have done really well with R&S math. We are at the beginning of 5th grade math and starting their official "6th grade" year. I figured we will keep math going during the summers since we typically school all year anyway typically.

I want them ready to start Algebra 1 in 9th. Any advice? Can I just plan on covering 5th-8th R&S in the next 3 years? That's what I want to accomplish and hope that will be enough for them to be ready for Algebra in 9th. IF we pay for them to do Algebra in Co-op, it will utilize Saxon Algebra 1.

Working through summers should have you exactly where you need to be. Since you won't have summer brain dump problems you could also let them use the chapter reviews to test out of the first 2-3 chapters of each book.

Great idea! We will be doing that with 5 too.
