LEK
Probaby a tough one but here goes, fingers crossed someone has a suggestion to help :001_smile: I am after recommendations for my second grader for logic. She is a young second grader and quite advanced in logic and mathematics (about 4th grade level in both) but slightly behind in reading and language arts (pretty much late 1st grade across the board in LA). Because of her reading ability I am having trouble finding logic that she can do on her level independently. She is a very independent child and wants to do logic daily on her own. At the minute the only thing I have that she can do on her own is mind benders book 2 (apart from logic games, we have heaps of these but are wanting workbooks). This book is for grades 1-2 and is WAY too easy for her in terms of logic but book 3, which i also own, is too hard reading wise. We also have logic safari book 1 (grades 2-3) and primarily logic (grades 2-4) and both are way too easy logic wise but too hard reading wise  Does anyone have any suggestions of what else I can look at? Dana
https://www.pennydellpuzzles.com/product.aspx?c=valuepacks-mathlogic&p=LDPK07 Dell Logic Puzzles are good as workbooks. Grids are small, but value packs of books are cheap. One star puzzles at early age.
Mike in SA
Look up some of the classics by Martin Gardner. Some of the problems will be very difficult to read, but many will be immediately accessible. Those are all-time greats that really inspire thinking. Plus, if she enjoys them, she may stretch her reading skills a bit. :) Our rising second grader is doing similar levels of problem solving this year. Not primarily those books per se, but he does enjoy the occasional problem from The Moscow Puzzles.
LEK
thanks, will check out those suggestions. It is just so tough when her reading is not great but she wants some independent work that is not "too easy"
bibiche
Mindware has some great logic games, Lab Mice comes to mind. And Codebreakers and Coin Clues don't require much reading... There are also great games from Thinkfun (Tip Over, Rush Hour, Chocolate Fix, Solitaire Chess) that are wonderful for developing logical thinking. Kareni
You might take a look at Logic Links from MindWare. There are four book levels, A through D. There is also a boxed set of puzzles. That link is here. And, in case you change your mind, here are some games that promote logical thinking: Quarto Iota SET Regards, Kareni
