Ok so we are having triplets. I don't think I've said it out loud yet! Im in total shock. Happy shock i think, but shock.

I had ZERO clue! Yesterday I went to see the midwife, because I was planning on a home birth. I was measuring much much bigger than last month and so she spent extra time on my exam. Three babies. DH wasn't even there. It's my third pregnancy and the midwife is a dear friend, so I went by myself. This is totally crazy.

Are there other triplet moms here?? Please check in!

:smilielol5: At 9 weeks when they saw 2 on the u/s they almost had to pick me up off the floor! 3 would have probably required smelling salts!

Welcome to multiple motherhood!

(PS Start lining up help now :tongue_smilie: ! Really I am serious, start assuming you will be on bedrest at 18-20 weeks, if you are not, great. If you are, you'll be prepared and can take a bit of rest. Freezer meals are the BEST! I super triple puffy <3 loved freezer meals! Oh and all plans go out the windows with multiples so just be prepared for the unplanned.)

Wow--congrats! I've known two families with triplets but haven't kept in touch after we moved. They were opposite in their approach. One family was very laid back about getting things done. They had adopted two dc so when the triplets were born they actually had 5 dc all under age 4. They figured that as long as they had all their dc accounted for they were good. The other family was hoping for twins (in vitro) but ended up with triplets. They were more scheduled; it suited their personalities.

Congratulations! That is exciting news!  I have a good friend who had triplets.  They were all around 5 pounds each.  So, she was miserable but happy.  Her Dr. did a pre-emptive cervical cerclage because he felt that it helped with the many different issues triplet moms can have.  It might not be your cup of tea, but you might look into it.

Also, eats lots of protein with more babies growing, the more protein you will need, and don't forget water!

Overall, congrats!

Wow, what a shock! I agree with the advice to follow up with an ultrasound just to confirm - when I was expecting twins we thought we might have heard 3 heartbeats, but it ended up being two, one of whom just moved to a new spot while she was checking for heartbeats, lol. If you're already hearing heartbeats via doppler, I also agree with the "start lining up help now!" advice - you'll being a bedrest for quite a while at the end, and possibly at the hospital for the final few weeks... In addition to all the other things you'll need to think about, lol, you may need to find someone to help take care of your DD during that time.

I can't even imagine the total shock you must feel! WOW!

I was pregnant with triplets and have surviving twins.  Congratulations!  Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy.   Drink lots and lots of fluids, and get lots of protein.  I drank hospital grade ensure like drinks, can't remember the name.

How soon until your first ultrasound?  You'll get to be on a first name basis with the US tech very soon. ;)
