MRI negative cerebral palsy anyone?

I think I've shared a little bit about my dd2 before. Long story short, she was diagnosed with dyspraxia, but we weren't satisfied with the diagnosis (we felt it didn't touch on all her struggles) and so we saw a neuro. He said maybe CP, maybe just Dyspraxia, and he'd let the MRI decide. We then saw a second neuro and she said definitely CP, regardless of MRI outcome. So we had the MRI, and it was (according to the first doctor) unremarkable. Unfortunately he spoke to my dh, so I didnt get to ask any questions. From what I gathered though, he didn't really say it was or wasn't CP in his opinion, only said that with therapy we should see great results. I haven't heard from the second doctor yet. I was just wondering if anyone else has had a negative MRI result and still had CP?

If you have questions, can you call back and leave a message for the doctor for a return phone call?

My daughter with CP had an abnormal MRI. I do know it was one of the diagnosing factors, but not the only one. I know the neurological exam matters too.

Have you checked her Chromosomes?  My ds has both hypotonia and hypertonia which they call CP without an MRI just because of how his muscles are behaving.  Even a small chromosome issue can have a lot of weird side effects (like curly hair even...).

My DD has CP w/ an abnormal MRI but our Dr told us before she had it that it was definitely CP no matter what the MRI said. She is very mild- most people would never suspect she has CP- but she had a few tell tale signs that the doctors picked up on. MRIs can confirm but not rule out CP. I'm in a group for parents w/ children w/ CP and many of the kids have clean MRIs. I've also seen kids who were told they had clean MRIs that were later determined to be abnormal by a more skilled surgeon.
