Our summer is hectic, but still relaxing because there are no grades, no tests, no "missing assignments," no consequences if one of my kids decides that her classmates' jokes are more interesting than the teacher's instruction for a five minute period. No more notes about how much help Miss A needed to finish her math paper. No more missed recess over unfinished seatwork. No more discipline notes over how Show and Tell was misused. No more fuss over wearing a collar Every Single Day. Yippee skippee! I only hope that whatever we do over the summer leaves them ready to really do their best in 3rd grade.
