SKL
My two 2nd-graders took the InView test and it provided a "Cognitive Skills Index / CSI" which is essentially an IQ score. My question: if the kids would be in 1st grade by age, how do they come up with the "CSI" for them? There would not be a lot of other kids their age taking the test. And the ones who are that young in 2nd grade would have mostly above average IQs.
Dmmetler
If it's like the screening ones done at schools here, it isn't going to change based on age-they'll be compared with 2nd graders, not with kids who are X years Y months. The individual IQ tests do adjust, but not the group screeners. Having said that, I know the guidance counselor at the school I taught in kept in mind which kids were young for grade vs older in grade in making the list of which kids to screen more thoroughly, because if a child is almost 2 years younger than another and gets the same score, the younger is going to be more likely to score in the GT range on the individual IQ test. SKL
So the CSI is not reliable then, I gather. That's what I figured.
kiwik
If it is high it is probably reliable as an indication of being above that percentile but if it is average it does not mean so much.
