Chelli
For the first 20 weeks of school I want to have my kids work on the physical geography of the Eastern Hemisphere. We will do the Western Hemisphere the last 16 weeks of school. Right now I'm compiling a list of mountain ranges, rivers, deserts, bodies of water, and other locations I want them to be able to find by the end of our study. I'm not trying to fit everything in, but only the more major land forms that fall under these headings. We will be coming around in the coming years to do each continent specifically where we will go into great detail (including countries) so I don't need everything this first go around. I wanted to share my list to see if anyone thought I should add or remove something. Mountain Ranges: Ural, Himalayan, Atlas, Alps, Pyrenees, Caucus Rivers: Nile, Yellow, Yangtze, Indus, Ganges, Ob, Congo, Danube, Volga, Tigris, Euphrates Deserts: Gobi, Sahara, Kalahari, Arabian Bodies of Water: the five oceans (Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, Arctic, Southern), Coral Sea, Bay of Bengal, Arabian Sea, Persian Gulf, South China Sea, Sea of Japan, Sea of Okhotsk, Caspian Sea, Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea, North Sea, Baltic Sea, Aegean Sea, Bay of Biscay, Aral Sea, Lake Victoria, Gulf of Guinea, Mozambique Channel, English Channel Other: Great Barrier Reef, Great Rift Valley, Tibetan Plateau, Siberia, Cape of Good Hope, Horn of Africa, Strait of Gibraltar Thanks for your help! petepie2
I would also include the Mekong River in Southeast Asia.
