LaughingCat
The main math area where DD the older struggles is elementary level geometry. I think it's because there are just too many terms and she can't hang on to them and their meaning. I have wondered if something more story based might be able to get it to stick. Has anyone had this problem and found a solution?
MiMi 4under3
Beast Academy is story based and includes elementary geometry, but I'm not sure if it would be enough...
OneStepAtATime
I second Beast Academy as a possible option, starting with 3A. Also, have you tried using Understanding Geometry?
geodob
Their has been research into this, that has highlighted the importance of using these 'terms' in general conversations, as descriptors. Where they are introduced incidentally, and have real meaning.
LaughingCat
Funny I have been eyeing BA about this - a combo of 3A/4A could be great or a complete failure - it's hard to tell. geodub, I must admit I can't quite see bringing rhombus, trapezoid, quadrilateral and polygon into our everyday conversation and as for isosceles, and scalene, well :crying: - but maybe, just maybe I could start small with circumference, radius and diameter though.
