Need durable sporty sandals for teen girls

I am looking for some durable, supportive sandals for my teen girls.  I have seen Teva and Chaco.  Are there other good brands to check out?  One wears a ladies 5 or kids 3/4 and the other wears a ladies 6/7 and kids 5/6.  It would help my budget if we could find them in the kids sizes as then they are much cheaper.......but they have to look good for teen girls to wear for years.

We are getting to the point of buying good quality stuff that will last for years rather than the get through the season type stuff we bought when they were growing.

LOL - I've had Chaco's and Keens and Tevas, and my kids have had variations of all kinds too..  All have been very comfortable and worn well.  The traditional Keen sandals are the most stable I think in terms of the straps.  My kids run in them like tennis shoes all summer.

ETA - this is the style I'm thinking about in Keens that are very durable for running around.

My hubby and I almost LIVE in Chacos, and it is this strange culture thing for rock climbers:) honestly, hubby is the coach for a Uni level Climing team and I have yet to meet a climber or outdoors-y person there without a pair!

That being said, we must own a pair of Keens in every.single.size from about birth for our daughter as they are absolutely perfect for just about everything outdoors. The major difference being the rounded rubber toe protection. You get the safety of a sneaker ish toe with the versatility of a sandal.

Dd would much prefer super girly sandals, but this is the compromise for us...and they come in 'cool' colors to boot...

Keens, Teva and Timberland are what I have tried.  I wear a Youth 4, Ladies 5/6.  I do wear out the heel portion of the sole of the sandals at the rate of one pair per year.  I get the classic sandals in Boys Youth 4 too as the Boys size can be cheaper than the Girls Youth.  Besides classics in chocolate color looks unisex.

My 9 year old boy's Keen Youth Size 4 has lasted a year with minimal wear on the sole despite wearing it for hiking and beach.  My hubby is very pleased as my boy's track shoes soles don't last.

I just wanted to add that my daughter hates shoes and takes them off any chance she gets. After losing TWO (!!) pairs of Keens, she's only allowed the 2/$5 flip-flops from Old Navy. Wouldn't you know, she doesn't lose those :)

My dd wears the Whisper style because I think they're a little more narrow and she has a very skinny foot.

DS wears the Newport.

I have a pair of Chaco flip flops that I like very much. I need to check out another style.

Ok, I am on the right track then.  I would like them to get Keens but they like the look of the Chacos better as they look cuter.  Thinking of hitting a local store today to see what they have in stock and try on sizes.  Seems like prices on these are pretty standard from store to on line, etc. unless you find a clearance pair.

I also agree with Keens. I have 3 boys and the keens are passed down and still look very good when the 3rd gets done with them. These are very hardy shoes!

Some things to consider: Whisper is for narrow feet people, Newport is for normal to wide feet people, and the ones with nylon strapping instead of plastic strapping hold up much better.  The plastic strapping ones are usually cheaper, but they dont last.

here is a link to the plastic strapping ones so you can see what they look like.  http://www.amazon.com/Sunport-Sandal-Toddler-Little-Woodbine/dp/B008K76HRA/ref=sr_1_22?ie=UTF8&qid=1397752553&sr=8-22&keywords=keen+newport

We often find Keen sandals for less at the Nordstrom Rack.  I picked up a pair this weekend for $25 and most places sell them for $48 in youth sizes.  These were the Newport with the nylon strapping.

We went to a local store and tried on lots of different ones.  My 17dd settled on some Tevas.  They didn't have anything in my 18dd's size (women's 5) so we will try another store as they had only a very few youth pairs so nothing that appealed to her.  I think she will go with the Chaco.  They tried Keen but did nt' quite like them.
