So is he a relative of yours or you found this while researching?  It's definitely fascinating, because they're making tremendous progress through the apraxia/nonverbal barrier.  What's sad is that now there would be therapy to help his speech if the same dc were starting out.  (PROMPT)  I got caught up in the sadness of that for a second (because my ds also has apraxia, moderate).  But once I got beyond that, I thought the way they taught him was fascinating.  What do you suppose the little squares of sticky stuff were holding the word pictures, number squares, etc.  You think they were just double sided tape?  Great technique.  And were the handwriting sheets HWT maybe?  And did you recognize any of the other materials they were using? I just thought it was fascinating the WAY they were using them.

Thanks for sharing!  :)

No. It was posted/shared on a local facebook group for local families with children on the spectrum. I thought it would be good to share here. The teen in the video is on Facebook and he apparently joined our group with his parents help. I don't know him, or if he actually does live locally or not. The group is for families in South Eastern Illinois.

I thought the word squares were simply velcro. (?)

I didn't notice the HWOT sheets. I did notice they were using some sort of dry erase handwriting tablets.

I honestly didn't recognize the materials. Could be they improvised and made them themselves. Seems as if they may have been using a simple Excel type spreadsheet for him to enter his math answers.

Honestly the technique they were using reminded me of a video I saw some years back about a teacher who uses a pointing technique with autistic children. She would give them answers and rip the papers (the ripping was essential) for them to choose....wish i could remember what that was called.....

It's called Rapid Prompting, and the website is Halo-Soma.  And yes, it's in that vein of believing it's inside.  RP takes it further, teaching you ways to find input channels and overcome extraneous motion, etc.  (more facets to the approach)  The book is VERY inspiring.  (Our ST has it so I got to borrow.)

I know/met someone whose boy has severe apraxia who taught him with RP, and she got similar results, with just astounding things coming out.  Basically there was this gifted child inside this quirky body.  As a teen the boy decided he wanted to learn to speak, so that's how we met, at a PROMPT workshop.  PROMPT and Rapid Prompting are not one in the same.  PROMPT is ST and RP is a teaching approach.

Even though my ds' apraxia is being effectively treated (and is treatable), we still never think we're seeing everything that's inside just because he has a lot of speech.  I find the methods that work around the speech issue and make communication more visual, more kinesthetic fascinating.  I just add the ideas to my mental bank of options...
