nansk
This article is a year old, but I found it yesterday. I am reading Ben Yagoda's book about writing and style, called How Not To Write Bad. I googled his name and found the article, which summarizes the key lessons from his book. The slideshow in the article gives a quick overview of tips to keep in mind when writing. Mrs Twain
Thank you. That was absolutely magnificent and it literally had a really, truly, outstanding impact on me, which it was supposed to! :) LOL
TKDmom
Now I'm trying to figure out a way to phrase this properly... ;) That was an awesome slideshow. I worked hard to learn how to write technical papers in a passive voice, and now I have to really think hard about how to use active voice (without all my really lovely qualifiers, and commas). nansk
Thank you. That was absolutely magnificent and it literally had a really, truly, outstanding impact on me, which it was supposed to! :) LOL Yeah, I guess his advice is nothing new. I'm sure many other writing books have the same suggestions.
Mrs Twain
Yeah, I guess his advice is nothing new. I'm sure many other writing books have the same suggestions. I was trying to make a joke by remembering what not to do. The article was very helpful. It gives concrete ideas on how to improve writing which are practical and applicable. Thanks for posting! Alessandra
Thank you. That was absolutely magnificent and it literally had a really, truly, outstanding impact on me, which it was supposed to! :) LOL Yeah, me too. I would have said 'starting weakly,' but that is arguably an outdated mode of expression.
