provenance61
I am looking for games and hands-on activities to make our co-op geography class (for grades 1-3) more fun. I am thinking things like geo bingo, salt dough landforms, pirate/treasure hunt, and lapbook we add to each week. Does anyone have more suggestions or something realy FUN to add to the class? Would appreciate any and all suggestions. Thanks!
dsbrack
You could have some geopuzzles out. They are puzzles of continents with each country as the pieces. ETA: You could also introduce simple blobbing for 10 minutes or so. Depending how long the co-op goes, they could get the basic placement of the continents down. provenance61
Thanks! dsbrack, can you tell me what you meant by simple blobbing? I don't think I understand. The idea of the continent boxes is neat, we can look into this too.
dsbrack
It comes from The Core and is a way to teach children to freehand draw a world map. This blog has a video tutorial that is helpful. I would give the parents instructions so they can practice more at home although you could get a pretty good start just with co-op if you meet weekly. You could play something like Geography Songs while they work to make it more fun! Edit: fixed hyperlink
