alef
The gardening topics on the board reminded me of my favorite gardening tip to extend the tomato season: when frost hits, pull up your tomato vines and bring them inside to let the tomatoes continue ripening. I've heard you can hang them upside down or wrap them in brown paper, but I just lay mine across some boxes in my garage. We had a salad on Christmas eve with delicious tomatos from the garage. My grandpa used to do this when he lived in Fairbanks Alaska, the growing season was short but he would get tomatoes through November by hanging the plants in the garage to ripen. bodiesmom
Thank you for the reminder. I MUST do this next year as I miss my garden tomatoes. :-)
