macmom28
DD7 is a strong reader but definitely is not a strong speller. She enjoys writing stories quite a bit. She is going to be using MCT: Island. DS9 is an amazing reader (with great verbal skills / understanding across the board) is a strong speller but isn't as strong at writing. He is going to be using MCT: Town. Can anyone suggest Spelling and Writing programs that might mesh well with MCT and work for us? Thanks so much! :)

Crimson Wife
For spelling, I've used All About Spelling and Spelling Power with MCT, depending on whether the student needs explicit teaching of the rules or is a "natural" speller. Kuovonne
I think that using MCT doesn't influence what spelling program you use. MCT does not address spelling. Use whatever spelling works for your kids. There are lots of spelling threads on these forums.
thebacabunch
We use wwe and spelling power with MCT. I have even used the workbooks and techniques of spelling power with the MCT vocab lists.
jmarchman
We use IEW SWI-A and PAL-W for writing, AAS for spelling and MCT for grammar. I also use IEW's Fix it! with MCT. My 10 yo does a chapter worth of Tom Sawyer (takes 3-4 weeks), and then we spend a week reading Grammar Town (Paragraph Town coming up next). I don't bother with any of MCT's other books anymore. We also use English from the Roots Up (I lump that in with writing/spelling/grammar in my mind). HTH
