Grantmom
Hello all, I would like to use some wise, contemplative quotes, and famous passages from books or speeches as copywork. It is for handwriting practice but also just to become acquainted with various famous quotes and passages throughout history. So things like a quote from Albert Einstein, or part of a speech by a president, etc. What are reliable resources for quotes? There are a bazillion quote websites, but I have seen many errors, many versions of the same quote, etc. How do you know if that was really Albert Einstein? So, besides going and hunting down originial sources and the like, are there some reliable resources I could use to quickly grab something for copywork each day? Many thanks! Walking-Iris
How about just a quotation resource? Sometimes dictionaries, thesauruses, and a book of quotes are bundled together in books stores.
Grantmom
Do you think something like that would be more accurate than just googling for it on the internet? When I try to look up the exact wording of a quote in the internet, I often find several different versions of it. And I just want to be sure I am using an accurate source, that gives the right wording and credit to the right person.
Walking-Iris
Possibly. I don't look up quotes online that often, but I'm sure there has to be one online source that's a good bet for accuracy. http://quotationspage.com/ http://www.quoteland.com/ Maybe? 8filltheheart
I absolutely love the Journey through Bookland set, so much so that we own 3 sets bc 2 of my kids have asked for their own personal set. Vol 10 has 100 memorable quotes. My dd stared her own commonplace book when she was 12 bc she loved the quotes so much. This is a link to an online ed and I have it linked directly to the quotes. http://www.gutenberg.org/files/24857/24857-h/24857-h.htm#One_Hundred_Choice_Quotations Fwiw, if you are unfamiliar with a commonplace book, here is a description http://selfmadescholar.com/b/2009/05/15/project-start-a-commonplace-book/
sagira
What a neat idea! I can have ds type instead of writing since he's so reluctant to put pencil to paper. Thanks, 8FilltheHeart!
