Angela in TN
We are going to Disney Jan 30-Feb 6th but I found out about the shuttle launch on the 7th so we are going to drive down to Cape Canaveral the afternoon of the 6th and stay until Friday the 8th. I'm hoping it dosen't get cancelled, what an awesome experience for the kids (and dh & I). Just wondering if anyone else is going to be down there and where will you be watching from? I heard that Spacewalk Park is a great place to watch if you can't get tickets to view from the causeway.:)
GothicGyrl
It is an awesome experience. My DH got to see one up close. Just be prepared for security to be heavy and for rain. They will scrap the launch at the slighest sign of inclement weather. DH said that as long as in your in Cocoa Beach, there isn't a bad view. Being in the space center is better, the causeway is right there, so you really won't miss out as long as you are in the general vicinity. Pster
You will be so close to me! Since we moved here we've been able to watch them from our backyard. We watch it on NASA tv and then run outside and follow the smoke trail till it disappears. It's really cool! I hope it doesn't get cancelled again. I hadn't heard the latest date. One day soon I'd really like to take the kids down there to see a launch. They'd love it!
Amy in Orlando
We usually just watch the launches from home, but this summer went out to Cocoa Beach to meet some friends to watch the launch. It was so cool. We were on the beach right across from Patrick AFB. We were all amazed at: the view, the sonic boom, the clouds about 1/2 hour after the launch - very strange. Have fun. Angela in TN
I'm hoping for good weather and of course looking forward to the experience. Amy how awesome to be close enough to see from your backyard! Wow
Amy in Orlando
We are lucky! And, since we are about an hour a way, it's a good excuse to go sit on the roof.
