Possible sticky on transcipts and application process?

Recommended Posts

Would it be possible to have a sticky where everyone could add their advice and possibly samples on how to write school profiles, arrange transcripts, and create course descriptions? Sort of a "everything but the kitchen sink" for paperwork for college applications.

There have been several good threads about the process, but I am having trouble keeping track of what I need and sometimes I don't know I will need something until later when my understanding of the process is more developed. I feel as though if I start the course descriptions and reading lists now, the senior crunch will be easier.

If it is not possible to have a sticky like the chemistry thread, could we please at least link threads on the above topics?

Thanks so much!

Chucki, my second year into homeschooling I decided that we were "Wit's End" Academy, which was a bit obvious so it morphed into Whitsend Academy. That is probably not the best name to put on school applications. We have a new, less-illustrious school name, but I am afraid that the profile in my head sounds as half-baked as ever. We could probably use a little snoot.

Which reminds me - in that sticky there should be something about naming one's school especially if you intend to do it all the way through. No self-respecting high school senior wants to put "My Little Pony Academy" on their college applications

Hey Lisa, if you would start a separate thread for each of those topics -- something like: "post all your tips about ______ here", I'll add each of them to the "mega compilation of linked past threads" I've started for you on transcripts and the application process. :)

Lori, I am a little dense today. I posted the first one. Is that what you have in mind?

The first couple of times I saw this thread, I wondered why on earth you would put a sticky note on a transcript. After I saw the second thread, I figured I must have been wrong.

:tongue_smilie: It does rather read that way, doesn't it. And "sticky" would be the old forum, eh?

Good point. Though, I have to say it made me think of this My Little Pony trend in the military: "You, the bronies, have taught me that there are things and people worth protecting; things bigger and more important than myself," write Ken "Derpy" Catlin

Mission accomplished, Lisa! :) Check out the top of the high school board. And... many thanks to YOU for suggesting the idea, and for starting those additional posts on specific topics so they could be added to the new pinned thread that is a mega-compilation on all those sorts of topics.

hugs, Lori D.

Lori, I am really grateful to you for keeping track of all those wonderful threads and I appreciate the effort everyone put forth in adding new information.

Things are once again rapidly shifting here. My oldest son will graduate from public high school on Tuesday and we believe he is headed towards the Coast Guard. That leaves just my youngest who will be in tenth grade this fall. Through the years I have half-heartedly paid attention to the college information because it seemed likely that he would also go on to public high school, but now that we have committed to the road of no return and he has to graduate from home school, I want to be on top of the information and work as best I can.

I am moving out all of the older kids' high school stuff and the last of the middle school stuff and am reshuffling our study space. While I have a lot of studying and planning to do for ds's next school year, I am feeling a bit more relaxed after mining the threads for ways to set up my record keeping and knowing what I can get started on now. It is also reassuring that I can now locate some of those pertinent threads a lot more easily. Thanks again.
