If I had a personal chef, she would be Vietnamese, which I believe is my favorite ethnic food.

I do swim, rarely but well enough. I can't swim a decent fly stroke, but the rest of it is there on a rudimentary level.

I like the herding class of dogs. I have had a border collie and a Belgian shepherd. I could never say which my favorite is, though I will say that I will never own another border collie, for lack of my current ability to adequate exercise a dog that never. Never. Never. Thinks it has had enough. So perhaps Belgians are my favorite.

Hi everyone!

Today we're going to have an ethnic buffet. What is your favorite ethnic food?

I'm also going to hang out at the pool at the Y. Do you swim? How well?

And today's totally random question: What is your favorite breed of dog or cat?

Greek. I absolutely adore Greek food. Since I don't have a restaurant close by I have to muddle through recipes from cookbooks or online.

Yes, I can swim. I wouldn't win any competitions but I wouldn't drown in the deep end.

I like big dogs. Big fluffy dogs. My favorite is the Great Pyrenees. I'd also be happy with an Australian Shepherd

My favorite cats are the ones that come from "for free to good home" ads.

Monday here, but you can't hold my time zone against me.

Ethnic food? Can I claim our American owned, Australian only consumed product VEGEMITE as ethnic? I have such a craving for that lately. I am also craving sushi, but I am nearly always craving sushi. Mmm. Sushi. I would very much like to know more about Vietnamese food, because the only Vietnamese restaurants I've been to served Australianised Chinese food, which was disappointing. I would like to know more about Korean. I've only eaten Korean once, but they served lots of seaweed and seaweed is yum, yum, yum. Latin American food is fun too, but really, I haven't had breakfast yet so my interest in food of any kind is very high just now. :)

I swim very poorly, don't like cats, though I did have a friendship of sorts with a Russian Blue once. I really like black labradors, staffies and blue heelers, however I have a religious position against owning such pets so probably won't ever have one.

I personally love Mexican food (American Mexican, yes, but 'real' Mexican food too). My uncle is Hispanic, and whenever we make it over to California during Christmas time, their homemade tamales absolutely make my day. :) I'm also a fan of the more traditional Dutch/German foods, but that's what I grew up with, so it's a real comfort food to me. Italian is good too.

I just like food, what can I say?

I'm an okay swimmer. Good enough to pass the Army swimming test, at least. I don't consider myself a very strong swimmer, though. Once my kids are old enough to do lessons on their own, I'll probably spend the time improving my swimming skills. It's something I'd definitely like to get better at, especially as I'd love to get my SCUBA certification at one point.

For cat breeds, I like Siamese and Balinese. Absolutely beautiful. I like mixes too, though. I have a longhaired gray tabby that I love. As far as dogs go, I like border collies, german shepards, labs, rottweilers... Mid to larger sized dogs, mostly, that are a little more active and do well with kids. We're looking at getting a rottweiler lab/retriever mix in the next couple years here, if we can find one we like.

Dd and I got brave enough to try sushi last year--YUMMO! Well, it's nothing too adventurous, just Calfornia Roll, but still, for us, that's progress!

I like Italian and Mexican the best, I guess.

We had a pool growing up--so I can swim, but not very well. Dog paddled just fine thru many a summer as a child, TYVM.

I love my Golden Retriever. I walk a lot of different kinds of dogs, and I think my favs are the shepherds and working dogs, I just like their personalities, and I am a sucker for a soft coat. I have a ton of "little kickables," as they are not-so-charitably known by some, on my route, and I just don't really like the yappiness or the size, but that's just mho. I don't really like boxers, pugs, drooly dogs, pits, or poodles, but again, just my opinion.

And Rosie, are you open to chatting about your religious thingy about the dogs you mentioned?

(Dd calls me the Adjective Queen--my word-finding has been awful lately, so I'm using adjectives out the whazoo...)

My favorite ethnic food is Latin, and I love love love Salvadorean food. Mexican, too.

I am a very strong swimmer. I grew up on the ocean, and spent the best years of my life in the water.

I like mutt dogs, and the bigger, the better. I like short-haired cats, and I'm drawn to the black ones.

White cats kind of freak me out. I don't know why. I could only own one if I were it's last bet LOL.

My favorite food is Mexican. I'm with ya FionaS, love tamales. The best I ever had was when I worked with Medical missions in a remote village in Honduras. They fed us corn tamlaes to thank us. Yum... Can't say I have ever any as good as those.

I love cats, especially all gray. I love Chocolate labs.

I love swimming and used to lifeguard in high school.

I really like lumpia and pancit and then next is chinese, but my tummy has been cramping for the last 2 days, so I am skipping out on eating tonight.

I swim, but don't know the strokes very well.

I've had a husky and a poodle since being an adult. I love both dogs, but they both have pluses and minuses. The poodle has been much easier to train.

I love Greek food.

I am a strong swimmer. My mom saw it as a safety precaution. (I also had a carseat in 1970. That what happens when your mom was a pediatric ER nurse.) All my kids are strong swimmers, too.

My sister has a golden doodle whom I love. I also love my friend's Portuguese Water Dog.

Nothing much to it. I feel I ought to do my bit to provide refuge for native species and uncaged pets harm that goal. My aunt has two cats and a dog, but as far as I can tell, if they kill, they kill baby rabbits. We also have 88 acres here, much of which is wooded, so there is plenty of hiding space even with her pets prowling around. I am very unlikely to ever have that much land of my own and if I had a small place, too small to have space for native refuge, it'd be too small for pets as well.

Tita, what's so groovy about Salvadorean food? I've tried recipes from various places but haven't made a dedicated enough study to understand regional variations.

I'm back from swimming. I am an ok swimmer. I have never learned formally to swim. I learned swimming in the ocean when my brothers pushed me off the raft. . .

I love all sorts of ethnic food. I tend to cook __________ish food. Ie. Chineseish, Japaneseish, Greekish, Mexicanish. . . . This is because I use the ethnic spices and flavors but incorporate just what I happen to have in the fridge and adapt it to our dietary allergies. Cooking Mexican food when dd is allergic to chili peppers is a challenge!

I love tabbies and Russian blues when it comes to cats. For dogs I'm a bit partial to our English Springer spaniels but mostly I just like medium size happy dogs.

My favorite foods would be a toss-up between Thai and Vietnamese. I eat Mexican and sushi most often.

We just finished swimming. The kids had a blast while I took the baby floating around the pool. I used to be a good swimmer, but I don't like getting my hair wet so I'm out of practice.

I love Russian blues for cats. I've never met one who wasn't a sweetheart. For dogs, I'd love a vizsla.

Indian. Or Japanese. It's hard to choose just one!

I was swimming 3x a week while my boys had class all last year, but then I had my appendix out and I just haven't gotten back on that wagon. I loved it.

My favorite dog ever was a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He was amazing and snored like a trucker.

I like pretty much any Latin American food, but what makes me really appreciate Salvadoran food is how it marries the best of Latin foods (corn, beans, veggies) with familar foods from the tropics, which is where I'm from - other hemisphere, though. So while I enjoy Mexican food, I can always find that AND something a little more reminiscent of home ... in a Salvadoran restaurant. Fish, root vegetables, tropical fruits, things like that. The best of both worlds, IMO!

I spend a lot of time working in Miami, and my favorite restaurants are Cuban and Salvadoran. But especially Salvadoran - yum! I wouldn't consider myself super knowledgeable about regional variations, I'm just a frequent diner-outer when I'm on the road. I defer to my belly, it just knows "good" and "no good" LOL.

I'm here, better late than never.

I really can't pick just one ethnic food - I love fry bread and Indian Tacos, mexican food, chinese food, Moroccan food, Israeli food, Jewish food, british food - really I just like good food. If I had to pick one from all of them right now, it would be fry bread & indian tacos though - I am really craving that and I missed the local powwow last weekend :(

I can't swim, but I love the feeling of being in the water. I've tried to learn to swim several times, and never can get the hang of it. I can't float either, but half my family is like that - we have heavy bones.

I like just plain old cats. Dogs are okay in mild doses if they belong to someone else. I won't own a dog as they are frowned upon as pets in my religion {Islam}. But dd is getting 2 kittens when they are old enough to come home - they were born last week!

1. greek food. (yanni's on greenwood is fabulous! yum. the greek festival cookbook is a worthwhile addition to a kitchen library.) I also heart chinese. (and sushi, and phad thai, and . . . . )

2. I can swim across the pool. not bad for someone who was deathly afraid of water as a child.

3. I love german shepards, and have had two. I would probably get a Golden retriever or a lab if dh ever again allowed a dog. (he likes other people's dogs.) ds' girl friend breeds german shepards. (so maybe if they do get married, she can give me a puppy for my birthday. wink wink, nudge nudge.)

 I have got to share that with dh. we call them rat dogs, purse dogs, and wanna-be dogs. he was over the moon when one of the chihuahua's across the street became some coyotes dinner. they even came right in my house a few times! the other one was kept inside after that. they were obnoxious little things, always running around and barking trying to play king of the hill with anything that moved. the chocolate lab ignored them - they weren't worth his time.

I hate stupid dogs. 'our' street has one (very overweight, medium hound-sort.) that will sit in the street and stare at you while blocking the road. huh? are you talkin' to me? huh? and he just sits there oblivious that there are people who would make him part of the pavement.

I love sushi and sashimi. So does everyone in the family, even the children eat raw fish!

I am a reasonable swimmer and also a volunteer swim coach for our local club.

Cats and me don't mix but my favorite dogs are German Shepard or Labrador.
