MASHomeschooler
Anyone else nearby? We are in Chandler. We started homeschooling in October, and the kids continued some things with their old school (specials once a week and occasional field trips, school events, etc.), but I think we're going to cut ties for next year. I would love to find a group that could replace some of the one-off group "experiences" they have enjoyed or were looking forward to doing in older grades - things like science fair, talent show, spelling bee, field trips, (Jr)FLL, math contests, etc. Any existing groups that do some of these kinds of fun academic things? Or interest in starting one that does? Or if you just want to say hi, we're here too. :)
scrapbookbuzz
I live in north Phoenix so not exactly close to you! However, I thought I would say, "Hi" just so you know you're not being ignored! I have a 9yo and a 15yo. You?
Ravin
We're in Tempe. DD attends Eagleridge Enrichment Program, in Mesa. There's also an enrichment program for homeschoolers in the Kyrene elementary district. Eagleridge goes to 8th grade, Kyrene's program, Casa Vida, goes to 6th. The County Superintendent of Schools website has a page for homeschooling. On it there are various resources, including a list of private homeschool groups and co-ops. MASHomeschooler
Yea! I'm not alone! :) Actually, I know there are a lot of homeschoolers around, and I did join a group, but it's not the best fit. Most of the families I have met are unschooling and/or hyper-religious/homeschooling purely for religious reasons. My kids are 8, almost 6, and almost 4. Thanks, Ravin. We actually looked into Eagleridge, but it also didn't seem like the best fit at this time. I am thinking about letting my oldest trying it next year (4th), when she can do the more elective-style classes, which look pretty cool. Just saying Hi :) I'm afraid we're ships passing in the night. My DD started at NSAA this fall, so she's no longer at Eagleridge. She misses her teachers there, though.
