She Reads a Lot
OK, Barton experts, I need your help! I received a used copy of Barton Reading & Spelling Level 3 today. Bought it from the people who sent me Levels 1 and 2. Both of those were fine/complete. But I am hyperventilating a little that the Level 3 I received only has 14 red tiles (w/3 letters on each) plus a blue tile and a green one. Where is the entire blue and yellow alphabet that was in Level 2? Shouldn't Level 3 come with its own set of the full alphabet so you can sell back Level 2 and have Level 3 be complete? It is also missing the word card w/the cut out and the large index card. I can make those, so not a biggie, but I'm freaking out about the letter tiles since you can't buy extras from Barton if you bought used. Please let me know if I am an idiot and this is how the level should be (the Barton Web site doesn't list exactly what comes with each level) or if I got scammed. EEK! mlbuchina
I bought mine from the company, and it only came with the red tiles that you described. Also, it did not come with the word frame/solid cards. I had to make some. Luckily, I had an extra set of tiles from buying level 2. Maybe you can contact the person you got 3 from to see if they have an extra set?

I trolled Ebay, but there is no consistency. Some Level 3 sets show the yellow/blue tiles, while others don't. So I just could not tell if I was getting a raw deal or if I got the right set and I'll just have to improvise. I'll probably just hold onto my Level 2 set so I've got those tiles to add in for now. I still have to get some blue paper and copy ALL of the student pages, but at least it wasn't supposed to have the tiles or the word frame/plain card. I might just have to buy new for Level 4 after all of this hassle!! Thanks for your help! Christina
mlbuchina
You're very welcome! :) You know, I have always just copied the pages dd7 needs to write on onto white paper. Hasn't seemed to bother her. Hm... I often wonder what difference the blue paper makes.
