serendipitous journey
I am wondering if I should bring FLL3 and/or 4 onto our lineup. I don't love FLL (we have, and are not-using, FLL2) and we're working through MCT, with Galore Park's Junior English right now and IEW's Fix-It Grammar soon. This (plus IEW poetry memorization) is essentially our grammar lineup for the elementary years -- that is, we'll keep moving up through MCT, Jr. English/SYRWTLEnglish, &c. Ideas about adding FLL? pulling from it things we don't hit elsewhere? just doing diagramming? leaving it alone?
Chrysalis Academy
Well, my MCT-loving kid didn't like FLL, but more importantly, she didn't need it - she gets grammar, and all things language, very quickly from a big picture, intuitive perspective that MCT really clicks with. Doing FLL was like being nibbled to death by ducks for her. Do you think you really need more grammar? It sounds like you've got it pretty thoroughly covered, given all the other materials you are using . . . I would be inclined to let it go if I were you. Five More Minutes
I've been using excerpts from FLL3 to introduce diagramming along with MCT, but after a couple months' trial, I think I may drop FLL3. It's just so formulaic compared to MCT, and certainly doesn't engender the same love of language. My dd doesn't hate it, but she still asks to skip the FLL activities every day. My latest and greatest plan is to pick up diagramming in a couple of years (maybe using Grammar Revolution?) and to cover mechanics using something like Editor-in-Chief. serendipitous journey
thanks, y'all ... I don't really want to add it, but it engenders so much love among so many that I want to give it Serious Consideration. That said we would ideally be scaling back rather than adding more; and he does enjoy MCT. okay, I'll [mostly] guiltlessly pass on FLL for the moment. :) thanks. boscopup
Does Galore Park include diagramming? I imagine it includes anything else you'd want from FLL that MCT doesn't have. If GP doesn't have diagramming, you could just teach it yourself. Diagramming isn't hard. I don't think you need FLL.

I'd not heard of diagramming until I started meeting Americans online. Laura
Crimson Wife
I would not personally add FLL if I were already using MCT + GP + Fix-It. I might use it with MCT in lieu of GP & Fix-It, but all of them together seems like way overkill IMHO.
