Miss Peregrine
SIL sent me and several other people an email. I noticed in the list of emails that mine was there but misspelled. I wondered how I got the email so I clicked on my name at the top to see what email it was sent to. My right email address was there, as was a nickname. It wasn't very nice. Not horrible but I am like, wha? So would this be something she put there or would it be on my end somehow?I know you can change a display name, but??? Dandelion
When someone stores your email address in their contacts, they can generally enter a name along with it. So what you saw is likely the name your SIL stored in her email contacts list.
Garga
Oh boy. I'm pretty sure it would be something she'd have entered when she was setting you up as a contact on her email.
GraciebytheBay
I assign names to each email address I regularly use. Sorry to say that she would have had to enter that herself. :(

Dandelion
Turd Nugget. Oooooh I am so tempted to sign my next email with it. Wow. Do you and your SIL joke around like this with each other, or is this completely out of the blue? Joking around is one thing, but using a name like that in your contacts (where everyone can see it on a group email) would not be ok with me. I would totally sign the next email (or 10) with this. :glare:
zoobie
Did she email you from her phone? My iPhone lists the contact names (e.g., "Mom" ) that I have entered. It also appears when my phone rings, or I get a text message. I once changed a friend's name to our Elf of the Shelf's so "Wilbur" could text the kids. Holy wow that's some nickname! I'm sorry. :( Any way it's a joint email? I could see my DH doing something silly for his brother. They try to get obnoxious pics of each other and mess with each other's phones. In the Rain
I can't believe you think that name is not horrible. I think that is deplorable. I hope you call her on it. magnificent_baby
Wow! I would suggest checking settings on your end, just to be sure. When I get emails, sometimes it's addressed to what I set my name up as in my email account settings. Perhaps one of your kids were goofing around? More than likely, it's not coming from your end (pardon the pun, lol). Regardless, add me to those wanting an update!

Catwoman
I can't even imagine a 12yo being so immature. She sounds like a real winner. :glare: Definitely call her out on it. Sorry your SIL is such a jerk. :grouphug:
besroma
If you discover that she did use that name for you, I would make her squirm a bit by signing an email "TN". Hopefully, she will waste some of her time trying to figure it out, then asking her if he thinks you saw it, post on a forum somewhere asking what she should do next, etc. She should definitely squirm for this. Cinder
I'm starting to wonder if someone is playing a mean joke on your SIL. Does she have someone in her life who might think it hilarious to give rude names to all or some of the contacts in her email list so she would unwittingly send out the emails and then get nasty replies back? Either your SIL is really really immature or someone else who is really really immature is playing a dirty trick on her.
WishboneDawn
I'd definitely respond to that with something that let her know I caught her but was forgiving and funny. Sign an otherwise normal email with, "Turd Nugget (working my way up to Turd Ingot :p :D)" for instance. Honestly, on my offend-O-meter that would barely rate. It is, however, a great opportunity to show some humour and a bit of grace.
