Jean in Newcastle
I have graded all tests and have tallied them. I have a percentage from that. Ds15 has completed all labs and has done a lab report for each of them following a set format. Do I give a grade for each lab? The lab work in general? Do I just give his grade based on the tests? Help!
regentrude
You can do it as you want. You can make the lab grade a percentage of the total grade. Or you can make the lab a mandatory portion of the course that has to be completed to your satisfaction, but not assign a grade for it and base the grade on tests alone (which is what we did). Candid
Jean, here's an online syllabus that shows what percentages he gives various components of his chemistry course. http://www.doctortang.com/Honour%20Chemistry/Honour%20Chemistry%20Outline.pdf You'll see he gives different units different weights, but he also breaks down the weight he give components in a unit.
