Phonics... phonics... phonics...

There are so many options! My eldest already knew how to read when I brought her home from brick and mortar school, so this upcoming kindergarten kiddo will be the first I need to *officially* teach how to read.

DS3 can say and recognize all of his alphabet and is working on the hard consonant sounds (via Reading Eggs and Starfall).

I'm a bit overwhelmed with all of the phonics options out there. We're using Memoria Press' letters books for writing. I'm not sure if I want to use their phonics program this upcoming fall.

Can anyone give reviews on some of the following:

Classical Phonics and First Start Reading (Memoria Press)

Saxon Phonics

All About Reading

Little Stories for Little Folks (Catholic Heritage Curriculum)

I used CHC's program for K with my first and liked it very much. It was cute, but had solid instruction. I've used AAR with my girls, though, and like it better. I think it has more complete phonics rules and more varied activities and practice. Plus we use AAS so it is nice having spelling and phonics instruction that follows the same pattern.

Are there placement tests for aar 1?
