Here: I'll get you started!

There are several good Jane Austen blogs.

These two currently start out with DA finale spoilers, so be forewarned.

There's a JA Society of North America

http://janeaustensworld.wordpress.com/

They meet in Minneapolis this year, in Sept. You could take a part-time job to fill your spare time AND allow you to save for the trip. :-)

(The Jane Austen museum in Bath, England is a bit cheesy, and repetitive for the JA fanatic, but the Bath walking tour includes many familiar sites from the 2 recent Persuasion adaptations. Lots of their souvenir mdse is for sale online.)

You can surf the Internet and "visit" Chatsworth and Lyme Park, the filming locations of 2005 and 1995 Pemberleys.

You can read annotated versions of 4 of her novels. Left side of the page is the novel's text; right side is filled with explanatory footnotes.

(It's the 200th anniversary of the publication of P&P)

But, thanks to this board, I too am enjoying the Lizzie Bennet vblog.

Most contemporary "sequels" are poorly written. Lost in Austen is the most successful one. Next best is a P+P trilogy by Pamela Aiden. They are heavily reviewed on the JA blogs above. None of them "clicked" with me.

You could also sew a JA-style dress and learn how to dance in that style. Our ds can host parties and teach the group how to do the various group dances in, for example, 1995 P&P.

Pemberley.com is another fun website to explore. And I'm sure others will chime in. I am not the ONLY crazy JA fan. Please join in!

These are not the same as a Jane Austen book, but I've enjoyed them.

Stephanie Barron's Jane Austen Mystery series. Yes, Jane the author solves mysteries.

Carrie Bebris' Mr. and Mrs. Darcy Mysteries. Tend to have "supernatural" elements. Elizabeth and Fitzwilliam solve mysteries, and each is based on an Austen book, has those characters in it, etc. Helps to have read the Austen book it is based on recently!

I liked the Pamela Aiden trilogy mentioned above. It's P&P told from Darcy's point of view. Second book was weakest, but enjoyed the first and third a lot.

I just picked up Death at Pemberley by PD James. A mystery with Elizabeth and Darcy and her sisters.

Funny thing, I have never read a PD James book and all these years I thought this person was a man. When I turned over Death at Pamberely and saw the author I was shocked. A sweet looking elderly lady. Now I am curious and will be reading more from her.
