TraciWA
We have the flu going thru the house. Lovely! My ds3 kicked it of last Thursday with a fever of 103. It broke the next morning and he seemed to be recovering. Fast forward to this morning. He woke up with a fever of 102 and it has climbed to 103+ all day. I have been treating it with acetaminophen. My question is, when should I take him in? Or should I even worry? I am watching to see if his ears seem to bother him.
jeninok
I always worry about fever that leaves and then returns. For my family it usually means that what started out viral has settled in and become bacterial. Did the Acetamenophin not bring it down? Actually even at 11, I worry about fevers over 102.5, he rarely runs much of a fever, so when it gets that high I watch really closely, I think I would take him in if he is still running it tomorrow. TraciWA
Ok, thanks! Someone also mentioned strep. I haven't looked in his mouth. My 13 year old dd also is down with it. Guess a run to urgent care might be needed.
sbgrace
The return of a high fever so much later would make me want to have it checked for a secondary infection. Is it possible he caught something new?
Catwoman
How is he feeling now? Did you take him to the doctor this morning? I hope he gets better soon!
TraciWA
Just got back from the urgent care with my two sickies. Doctor wouldn't commit that it was the flu, oh well. So my older dd has an upper respiratory virus. Whatever! My dd3 has a double ear infection! Poor guy. So eating a late lunch and then off to get his prescription filled. Thanks for asking!
