Hi Everyone,

I'm a new poster to the forum, jut gearing up for PreK with my son. Does anyone have any thoughts on a good table and set of chairs for the younger crowd? I was looking at the Ikea Kritter line, does anyone have experience with it or other recommendations?

Many Thanks!

I was going to suggest Ikea's Mamut collection. I'm about to break down and do the 90 minute drive to get it. Mr ds's table now is horrid! The Mamut table at our local children's museum has held up very well for at least the 2 years we've been going there and is very sturdy.

We have these Ikea Mammut chairs that were given to us with a table like this from lakeshore learning. We were given all of them, they actually came out of a kindergarten classroom. They are all great quality, they chairs hold up great, I find myself standing on them to reach a high shelf or something and they are just fine. They clean easily, I use a magic eraser once in a while. I love the table too, but I would never spend that much myself, but judging from the Ikea chairs, you probably can't go wrong with their table also.

We have 2 of these tables and chairs (I only put together 2 chairs, not all 4):

They work well for us though they are a bit lightweight. I've babysat for a family with the Mammut chairs and tables and they bothered me, but it more because of the cartoon look and plastic feel. We tend to stick to natural materials, so that's just me. They were a sturdy chair to sit in.

My preference would have been to buy he SUNDVIK table and chairs - but since I needed 2 sets, I couldn't pass up on the cheeper option and have been happy with it this past year we've been using them (children ages 2 and 4) -- Though, honestly, in another year I think my older daughter may be growing a bit too big for it. However, we have another table for school work, those tables are just in the living room for them to do independent focused play. :)
