Has anyone used the Classic Curriculum Math Workbooks, specifically Series 1 books 1-4? I found them today on Rainbow Resource. They are meant to be used the year before you start Ray's arithmetic and seemed affordable and well based. The later series are to used alongside Ray's Arithmetic. Any experience?

I have the first one. We haven't done it yet but I have flipped through it and I really like it.

Mott Media has a different sequence on their website - they recommend the first one the last few weeks of Kinder and then the other 3 for the first grade year when you start using the Primary book.

I've seen some conflicting info out there - a review that stated all 4 of the 1st series to be used before the start of the arithmetic series, the Mott Media recommendations, doing it all together right from the start - I'm not sure ANYONE knows! lol

But I do find it to be a nice workbook. Here's what the first book covers:

Writing Number to 10

Counting Number to 10

Combining Sets to 5

Comparing Numbers to 5

Writing Numbers to 20

Counting Numbers to 12

Comparing Numbers to 20

Writing Numbers to 20 (Review)

Counting Numbers to 12 (Review)

Combining Sets to 5 (Review)

Comparing Numbers to 20 (Review)

Simple addition, review of numbers using writing and pictures, more than/less than

Nice quality. Lots of space to write. Big print. Black and white. Could easily use things like counters if needed or something. I'm seriously caught between using this and one of a couple other programs. Oh, decisions!

ETA: I did find a little note in the workbook I had missed before! Series 1, 1-4 are to be used the year before beginning anything. So I guess the Mott Media thing was what really had me confused. Sorry about that!
