Onceuponatime
What would you do with jars of dried beans, lentils, and barley that could be up to 10 years old?
HomeschoolMamaOfTwo
For me personally, I would dump the food and either repurpose the jars or donate them.
Annie
I can't see how old your kids are because I can't see signatures on my phone, but my two year old has been playing in a wash tub of old noodles and beans for about two weeks now. KatieJ
They might be ok to cook, but don't quote me on that. I would do a little bit of research before I decided to toss them. And if I did decide to toss them, I would probably make bean bags out of them.
AKshanmar
Really... ? I would leave them on the shelf, and keep thinking I should do something about them. Oh wait, that wasn't the answer you were looking for! When I am in the right mood, I can throw things away... that is probably what you should really do. Tiramisu
I don't know about the beans and barley, but lentils could be sewn into a cotton sack and warmed in the microwave for use as a heating pad.

That's how they got there in the first place. I finally decided to toss the beans, they were the oldest. The lentils and barley have more promise. Now I should actually use them. JumpyTheFrog
Wait until you are in a bad mood and then throw them out. Getting rid of stuff cheers me up.
Critterfixer
I would put them in my compost bin.
