"Get fit and stay fit!" Thought a little Denise Austen quote fit nicely for the new year. :D

I missed work outs for three days. This morning I did Tracy Anderson cardio for 30 min and then we went on a family bike ride of 7 miles.

How are you starting off the year?

DH and I started a little weight lifting routine today. We have a new machine and are hoping to tone. I've been watching, and reducing, my calories for a few days now to reel in what I've let go the past 6 months. I'm hoping to shed 7-10 pounds in the next few months.

I hope it's okay if I add mine :) I didn't do anything yesterday since we were in the car all day (spend the New Year at my inlaws). Today though I'm up and dressed and have 1 kid ready to go, just need to get the other one ready and I'm going to head to the gym for Step class. It's my favorite class of the week.

The only thing I don't like is that there is a 2 hour limit on childcare, but a 15 minute lag between classes so I can't make both Step and Yoga. I got to do that a few times when DH was home over the holiday and it was wonderful.

Treadmill on Sunday, then 30 Day Shred yesterday and today. I did 30DS for ten days in the summer but my shoulder still wasn't up to even 1lb weight then so I stopped. I'm happy to say that my flexibility is probably 90% of what it was pre-injury (biceps tenonitis followed by frozen shoulder summer-fall 2011). I have like NO strength though. I hope to make it through all 30 days this time :)

Any gentle yoga recommendations? Bonus points if I can view at least a portion on YouTube first!

I've committed to doing two 5Ks this summer so I'm starting back at square on on the Couch to 5K. I did Week 1 Day 1 twice through yesterday. And now that the baby is taking consistent afternoon naps I want to start doing my workout DVDs again during nap time. We got some blinds yesterday for the living room and installed them so I can do Zumba without the neighbors getting a good laugh! My plan is C25K and a DVD on alternating days, taking on day off a week for rest.

Do you have Netflix? There are some On Demand Yoga videos on there.

Felt terrible yesterday and only managed to run 2 miles.

Much, much better today after a good rest last night, and ran 4 miles, felt pretty good at the end, too.

Resolution for exercise the year is to improve my minutes per mile time and add strength work. To that end I will be checking out the exercise DVDs at the library. I can keep one for two weeks which should give me time to try and see what I like best.

Unfortunately, my exercising has fallen by the wayside. I used to get up early in the morning to exercise because no one was in the living room, but now my dad is. DH is sleeping in bedroom, and we are also on the second floor, so I can't jump too much.

I can't run in the Winter because it really irritates my asthma. Maybe if I built up to it more before the cold weather began.

I might just try some Pilates and strength for now.

Saturday 1/5 Ran 3 miles

Foot is still troubling me. Time to get that extra set of new shoes and a boot for sleeping in to get this thing better.

Maybe now is the time to start on that strengh you were talking about. Perhaps some yoga/pilates? Give your foot a chance to heal completely without stress. Biking would be good cardio without strain on your foot.

I went to BodyStep this morning. It is the beginning of January so of course class was very, very full. I am going to need to be on top of being on class a bit early to ensure I get a space in the classes I take. On one hand I love seeing new people begin a fitness routine, on the other I know most of them are going to fizzle away by March and I can't help but feel a bit inconvenienced by the crowds in class and in the parking lot.

Thursday - nothing. Got up early to beat the crowds at the DMV to get my driver's license renewed!

Friday - BBL - Sculpt

Saturday - BBL High & Tight and Bob Harper's Yoga Abs

I have exercised four days a week for the last three weeks and am hoping to get back up to my usual of five days a week NEXT week!
