amo_mea_filiis.
This story is best when read, not skimmed. And don't jump to the end! A friend was just venting (I'm supposed to agree) that the other day someone expected her to drop everything and go pick him up and drive him 30 minutes away, wait, and drive him back home. She was mad because she had to get her daughter off the bus and they had so much to do that day. She was really going off about how rude and inconsiderate this person was. She has a life of her own and cant be expected to drop everything for other people. Seriously, people, picture an hour long venting session completely bashing this rude jerk. Add in loads of blah, blah, blah. Ready for the good part? This rude person is the OWNER of the car she was BORROWING to "run some errands!" This rude and inconsiderate person had the nerve to make her give the car back after she'd had it for week. How dare he need HIS CAR to get him somewhere! The even better part? After this venting JAWM session, she asked to borrow MY car for the weekend!!! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! I learned to use NO as a complete sentence. I really need to get out of this town. RoughCollie
I would have shut her down way before an hour was up. It's easy. I just hold up my hand and say "Stop!". People do! If they open their mouths to continue, I say "Stop" again, before they get a single word out. Then I tell them what I think, concluding with the words "and that's the end of it". The good part is that after this happens once, the person doesn't vent to me any more. I look at it as a public service -- they now have something else to vent about (me), so they will never run out of conversation if they can find someone who is willing to listen to their drivel. Mommyof4ks
Wow, that is nuts! Rude and entitled, not a good combo. I hope that person who lent her the car learned a valuable lesson today.

Twigs
… I learned to use NO as a complete sentence.… Well done! (I learned this useful fact a couple of years ago from the Hive.)
RoughCollie
Feel free to spend some time here training me! Lol. You can say no to the woman's request to borrowing your car, so you can say stop. If all else fails, say nothing, and cover your ears with your hands. Actions speak louder than words. amo_mea_filiis.
It went on so long because i have so little adult interaction! Lol. I have you guys, but face to face is nice sometimes. She's the type to keep going back to obsessive topics. So it'll start about the car, veer for a minute about clothes or something else, but right back to her venting topic. PrairieSong
Did she realize she spent about as much time venting about this as it would have taken to actually do what was asked? And did she ever thank the other person for letting her borrow the car? Just bizarre.
