One question.. I would like to get a writing and language supplement for my ds now. Should I order MP copy book II or WWE and first language lessons? I'm thinking of getting the copy book just to get a taste of MP. Would I need any kind of instruction manual for the copybook or is it self explanitory? Right now I have my son copying scriptures and prayers but I would like to have something more structured. I don't feel he is getting enough instruction in grammar either at this point. Thanks!

The copybook is just that-it has copy work. It does not have writing or grammar instruction.

FLL has grammar and poetry memorization. WWE has copy work, lit passages, and narration. So, if you want actual instruction you should go with FLL and WWE. We just started both of those so hopefully more experienced users will chime in.

Lexi is right~ if you want explicit instruction in grammar, poetry memorization, copywork (what, specifically, to notice while copying), narration, and dictation, then you'll want FLL and WWE, rather than the MP copybook. We've used FLL and WWE very successfully, but of course you'll hear differing opinions on them. I like the scripted instructions and having everything laid out for me. How old is your student? I didn't use FLL in grades 1-2, but love it beginning with book 3.

Thanks! Also, for wwe, do I need teachers manual and the workbook?

My son is in first grade and we're using sonlight and he definitely needs more instruction in LA.

The teachers manual for WWE has a nice introduction to the philosophy underlying WWE and then several weeks of example lessons for each level. You'd want that if you are looking for some guidance but also want to choose most of your own copy work and dictation.

The student books have all 36 weeks laid out for you. It is open and go and even has tear out pages in the back for doing the work, if you want, though we just use a notebook.
