HappyGrace
Thinking about getting this for my 10-13 yr olds as a form of exercise in winter but not sure if they will actually use it. Do your kids like theirs?
Tap
DD5 has had one for a few years and it is rarely used. We used it as part of her therapy and it did/does still serve its purpose, but otherwise I would love to get rid of it. There really isn't a good place to keep it in our house. DD14 has only been on it a couple of times in those years. Unless the person likes to purposefully exercise, I see it as pretty pointless. Snow
We bought one for my son when he was 4. The first one we bought from toys r us was cheaply made and broke within a day of buying it so we returned it and bought a new sturdy one. Unfortunately, the sturdy one can support an adult which meant it was so taut he couldn't get much bounce on it. I bet in 2 1/2 yrs he has jumped 10 times. I think it could be good, you just have to make sure it's the right one and make sure the kid is the type who is very physical, always moving etc.
idnib
My kids like it, although I bought it for myself as it's very good for exercise. We have a video we got somewhere and the kids try to imitate it. It does take up a lot of floor space and is very heavy.
Pixjen
Check out Goodwill, I got one for only ten bucks.
Word Nerd
Not really. They have probably used it more often as a platform or low table for other activities than they ever have as a trampoline. Still, we didn't pay much for ours and definitely got our money's worth. Trillian
DS uses his all the time, daily, multiple times a day. However, he is very high energy. We have one for adults. My friend who has one (her son also uses it a lot) has had to change the bands; we haven't.
swellmomma
Our rebounder gets used daily. Mostly by the 9 and 5 year olds but the teens use it every few days too. I bought ours at walmart a year or 2 ago and it has held up very very well. I got it on sale for like $30 or something like that
redsquirrel
I love ours. We have a small house and space is at a premium but i won't get rid of it. It comes out every winter, right after Christmas. It goes away as soon as the kids are running outside without a coat. I don't know how my very active boys would get through the winter without it. We have one that can fold up. Now, it isn't easy to fold up and we only do it when we put it away for the season. It is very heavy duty, appropriate for adults to use as a rebounder. I got it at a very good price from some online trampoline store. I only wish we had the space for a full sized out outside.
*Inna*
I bought ours off Craigslist. It's being used daily. Not the most attractive thing to have in the house, but it's worth it.
Seeking Squirrels
Our 4yo is getting one for Christmas. We really don't have the space for it, but if it helps, it will be worth it. She doesn't stop moving. Ever. She is in constant motion and often upside down. We suspect some sensory issues or similar. I'm hoping access to an energy outlet like this will help a little. bettyandbob
I had one years ago when my olders were preschool/early elem age. It broke. I got another off freecycle about a year or so ago in the hopes that it would help my special needs son get more exercise. He's 11. He rarely jumps on it. It's in my living room and he (and everyone else) must pass it multiple times a day. BUT my 15 yo dd gets on in just about every time she passes it. She jumps for a few minutes a time several times a day. So it is getting used.
GailV
We have heavy duty adult ones. My parents gave us their old one when they downsized. When older dd was about 4-6 years old she loved to bounce on it while she watched television. Younger dd actually learned to pull up and stand using it. As the kids have gotten older they no longer use it. However, these days the mini tramps aren't as accessible, so that may be a factor. Also, we have a boatload of exercise equipment, including a Bosu ball (younger dd loved that when she was around 5-8 years old -- she'd bounce on the bouncy side, or else flip it and ride it like a surf board), stability balls (go in and out of style at our house for something to do), stationary bike, weights, and gym mats, so that probably makes a difference, too. HappyGrace
Hmm...sounds like it may be better for youngers. I think I will skip it. Thanks for the helpful feedback!
gardenmom5
we don't use it for exercise, but for a sensory break. it is in my dining room, so it is close at hand. (and a high ceiling) sometimes my son simply needs to jump. an older son will also jump on it - but I've asked him not to do it in front of his little brother because he does things on it I don't want his little brother emulating -if you catch my drift. . . . . Staceyshoe
My kids are younger, but they like their mini trampoline. HOWEVER, after it's been in plain sight for a couple of weeks, they stop jumping on it. It goes away for a couple of weeks, and then they are begging me for it again. When it comes out again, they spend hours on it. If I didn't rotate it in and out of sight, then I think they would just walk around it all the time. lea_lpz
Anyone want to sell me one? I have an antsy 5 year old. Could be seething to do between lessons.
saraha
Don't give up on it. My ds who is 13 jumps on it literally everytime he walks past it. He also challenges his 11 year old sister to "competitions" where they will try to do tasks while jumping, stay on a rythm, whatever they can think of the other might not be able to do. It gets used EVERY DAY. I even will send a kid to do a hundred jumps just because they are getting on my nerves!
