What do you think of the Keen dress shoes (Bidwell)?

Dh needs new leather shoes. He normally wears loafers that are dressy enough to go with khakis even though he mostly wears jeans. (He'll wear khakis for certain meetings but mostly jeans are fine.) I got him Keen sandals for Father's Day and he LIVES in them. He is hard on shoes and his Keens are holding up great. I'm thinking about getting the Keen Bidwells for his fall/winter leather shoe, but I can't decide if that rubber toe is funny-looking or makes them too casual. What do you think of them?

Personally, I think those shoes look good and would be fine with jeans or casual khakis. If he can wear jeans to work, that shoe seems fine. If he needs to dress up for meetings, he can always go back to his old loafers. I think the bumped out toe shape is becoming more and more accepted as people embrace the comfort of these shoes.

I love my keen sandals but find the closed shoes harder to get used to.

Okay. Here are all the Keen loafers. Is there one that is better, do you think? FYI, he's 40, style is sort of casual Gap-ish but not super trendy/young. Does that make sense? I love the Timmons ones but I think they are probably even more casual, right? Ugh, I am so bad at fashion -- for myself, let alone for dh. :confused1:

For some reason, I do not like the white on the base of the loafers. Other than that, I think they also look appropriate for work situation you described. The soles on the loafers seem less obtrusive. Probably either it fine, unless your Dh has a certain preference. MY DH does not like shoes where the uppers reach that far up the front of his foot.

If you are getting them b/c he likes the Newports, I would probably go with the Ontario, then, b/c it has a slightly wider toe. The Bidwell has a very narrow toe area compared to the Newport, and he probably wouldn't find the comfort the same.

Or...you could go with the Brixen Lo, which has an identical footprint of a Newport. I have a pair of clogs with that footprint as well as the Newport, and they are VERY comfortable. I have other pairs with a more narrow footprint, and they don't feel anything alike. One pair I don't wear at all b/c I don't like how they feel.

Thanks, I'll look at those! He does have Newports.

I personally would look for something a bit dressier but I have to admit I am not a huge fan of the rubber toe (I think it makes them look very casual, like athletic shoes). Has he ever had Merrell shoes? They are very comfortable, similar to Keen. I think something like these would be better: http://www.zappos.com/merrell-world-legend-dark-earth-leather?zlfid=111&recoName=zap_pdp_acc
