Umm.....oops?? What do I do now?

So, I was sorting through my desk last night......there was a stack of papers that had been taunting me for weeks. I haven't even so much as looked at that desk since the end of August when I started really getting sick. Well.....in that stack was my CPI (competent private instruction) paperwork! GAH!!! It was due Aug 26th. I'm okay with little DD as she's not even 6 yet and we aren't required to report unless she's 6 on or before Sept 15th. But um....my older DD is a 7th grader! She's also dual enrolled at the middle school for band and choir. Nobody has said a word to us yet.

So.....do I turn in the paperwork MONTHS late and risk getting in trouble by drawing attention to ourselves & the fact that we didn't report or do we just continue flying under the radar this year? Nobody seems to have noticed anything is amiss?!?

I'd like to say that I can't believe I did this, but I totally can. I was so, so sick. So, now what???

I forgot to turn in my notice of intent this year, for similar reasons - I was 8 mths along when it was due. Ds is enrolled part time for a weekly gifted class. I decided to just let it go, and so far no one has said anything. I'm thinking because he is on their roster they show him as in school even though it is only part time. At least, that is what I'm hoping.

I tend to err on the side of honesty, so I'd contact whoever the recipient is and say "I think sending this in may have fallen off my radar <insert reason as you feel comfortable sharing>. Can you look to see if you have a copy from me? If not, I will send it directly. So sorry to have overlooked it!"

I mean, they've clearly dropped the follow-up ball, here, but I would acknowledge the one I dropped.
