Wart Q

Dd14 had a plantar wart on her foot. I cut a circle from of a 40% salicylic acid pad and covered it in a bandaid. It was on for a week (one change out mid week) and just now when we went to remove it to switch it out again, it looks like the wart was attached to the acid pad and there is a small hole in her foot (a bit bigger than the a round ball pin head). Inside the hole, I can still see black spots.

Should we keep applying the acid pad or figure it is gone? It seems awfully fast for it to be gone after only a week but what else would have made the hole if the wart didn't come off?

Are the black spots blood vessels or roots?

It is not gone. I've been batteling plantar warts on my husband and dd for a decade. Keep treating it. We see the dermatologist and use a cycle treatment of paint on salicylic acid and anti viral cream. They spread like wildfire if you pick at them. If you find a miracle cure please let me know.

Honestly, I don't know; but I had one that came off like that. I stopped treating it, and it never came back. The hole was so deep in my heel that I just couldn't stand the thought of treating it further. Maybe just keep it covered with duct tape for a while longer. (It is a good wart cure on its own accord.)

The black spots are probably roots (at least that's been our experience). I would switch to the liquid form of the saylitic acid because you can be more specific about where you put it and apply it twice a day and put duct tape over it and I know it sounds gross but your daughter really should pick at it when before putting the acid on it.

I just finished battling two on my foot and one on my finger - YUCK! I honestly couldn't walk without pain because of the huge one on my foot and I had it for six months without realizing what it was. When I started treating it the callous was a as big as a dime and when the acid started working I had a crater in my foot but one day I was able to get at the "main" root . . . the thing bled and I put some neosporin on it under the duct tape (instead of the acid since I had a open wound) and by the next morning it was gone . . . amazing.

If you don't get that root out, it will come back and you'll have to start over.

You will know you are done treating when there is entirely fresh, new, unmarked skin. It will seem miraculous when this occurs.

There is the wart itself, and there is the callous that builds around it. Rather than picking at the wart with the fingers, shave it down with disposable nail files. Break the nail file into smaller bits. Use once and discard. Each and every time you touch the wart, wash your hands.

Once the virus is threatened, it spreads. It is common to have more warts sprout up before they disappear. Keep treating.

Some warts respond to salicylic acid over the course of 1-3 months. Some do not. Other options include Tagamet once a day or duct tape. Freezing or burning can work as well. None of those options worked for me--I needed serious prescription meds to get rid of mine. You might consider seeing a dermatologist.

TEA TREE OIL!

It was a miracle cure for us. Use a cotton swab dipped in tea tree oil and cover the area, then cover that with a bandaid. Do this twice a day, for 6 weeks. Make sure it's after your child has bathed.

DD had hundreds of little warts on the bottom of her feet. I had tried everything(banana peel, duct tape, different OTC things) and they just seemed to multiply. Then tea tree oil worked like magic. It was a pain to actually do, but so worth it. She doesn't even have one mark on her foot anymore.
