He just finds long sticks (plastic golf club, bat, etc.) and hits things with them... :smash: We have a tool set, trampoline, playset, dress up clothes, scooters, blocks, mega blocks, etc. I'm thinking of getting him a train set just because we don't have one, but he hasn't really shown interest in cars or trains... tabrizia Posted November 29, 2012 Share Posted November 29, 2012 Magnatiles, I know they are a building toy, but seriously DS who was not and is still not a huge toy kid loves them and has loved them since first being introduced to them at 3. You can also do an event of some sort, Science Museum membership, Children's Museum, Aquarium, Zoo. Or if he likes arts and crafts maybe something like the Kiwi crate? Storm Bay Posted November 29, 2012 Share Posted November 29, 2012 Many 3 yo boys play with toys, but perhaps you haven't found the right ones. How about the book Mortimer by Robert Munsch? I thought of that because of all the noise your son must make with his hitting things. He's too young for organized sports (I'm thinking of sports where you hit balls, but that shouldn't happen before age 6 according to the reading I've been doing.) Does he hit things with his tool set???? I don't remember my son or brothers playing dress up, but they did like blocks and Legos, so I don't have any other suggestions besides that book and a quiet drum and orff instruments. I'm planning to get my 2.5 year old a kid-sized broom and dustpan because he loves to help and takes the chimney broom. Last year my SIL got my boys a fort-making kit from stuff at Target and the thrift store -- old sheets, flashlights, rope, and clothespins and a box to hold everything. It was awesome. I'm thinking he really just likes to play with REAL things. He loves the vacuum cleaner, the bow flex, the blow dryer, an electric razor... it's like he just wants to be 15 years older! LOL. I'm thinking he would like to take things apart too... wonder if there are any ideas of things that can be dismantled appropriate for this age? LearningMomm Posted November 29, 2012 Share Posted November 29, 2012 My 3yo son is getting an Imaginarium City Central Train Table, A Smart StartCycle Racer with games, Train Conductor whistle, Sno Stompers Green Dino, Huge Cardboard building blocks, fort kit items, Toy Cars & Trucks, a remote that plays different sounds, Stop rocket, Gear sets, a giant dinosaur stuffed animal, a few books, a dvd, clothes.. The block set "Day and Night" is very nice and he can use it now just playing with the blocks and later trying to build the image in the activity book. We bought our set at Amazon. sewingmama Posted November 29, 2012 Share Posted November 29, 2012 My 3yo LOVES toys but he is very specific in his demands :gnorsi: It MUST be related to either fire engines or dalmation puppies :rolleyes: So this year he is getting (the same as last year and the year before) Firetrucks, a stuffed Dalmation puppy (he now has 6 of the things) Sleich dalmation puppies, books about fire engines - you get the drift :glare: I guess it makes it easier for me but geez the obsession needs to be over already. My 3yo is also obsessed with baking cookies and cupcakes. So I plan to get him some little cookie cutters and a couple of box mixes all for himself - he will be over the moon. My 5yo however does not play with toys. He has a leapad that he loves and will be getting more games for it. Other then that I have no idea.
